The Ff7 Thread! Well, seeing as how I'm an avid FF7 fan, I figured it was time people had a place to express their interest in the game. Here, you can discuss anything related to the game, and well, just have fun. http://www.figures.com/databases/new...ures/277/3.jpg |
What is FF7?? |
Final Fantasy 7, and obviously you never played it. |
They need to stop making so much poorly plotted fanservice stuff. its destroying the original concept. As an example, take one of the recurring villains in the original game, the Turks. A shadowy bunch of corporate assassins who at one point wipe out a section of a city with little more than a smug sneer. Flash forward to the post game movie, and apparently they've become the goofy comedic sidekicks of a character who SHOULD be dead (Rufus). Lets look at another compilation, Before Crisis. Why the f--- is Vincent in that game? from the first game, he was coffined up immediately following discovery that his love interest had got knocked up by Hojo. He wasnt de-coffinated until Clouds crew woke him up. Ergo, for the entirety of Sephiroths life, or at the very least since his childhood, Vincent should have been AWOL. Its this kinda stuff thats diminishing the series the more they squeeze it and thats a shame because i really love the original game |
Final Fantasy 7 was an amazing game. Now I hear they are thinking about remaking it? I would be dissapointed if they did. There is nowhere that title can go but down. They need to leave it alone in its glory. |
they got no choice now. Theyve retconned the shiat out of the series and the only way for it to make sense is to rerelease the game and add in all the extra shiat the compilation series added. |
A lot of people will be very angry if they do, thats all I know. |
I didn't think they were remaking the storyline or anything. The were reamking they game as it was on the PS3 so the graphics will be better. I didn't anything about them actually changing the game itself. |
No they are doing more than graphics. I would be ok with them just making it look better for the ps3, but they have talked about actually changing it up, adding new stuff and etc... |
They're probably going to add the whole "Aeris come's back to life" thing. They were originally going to have that in the game, but they ran out of time or money or soemthing, so they couldn't pull it off. Now, that's probably what they are going to change. |
I hope they don't do something stupid like that. They just need to leave the damn game alone and actually come up with another final fantasy game that measures up to it. But the way they are doing them now, I doubt that is going to happen. |
what? you dont like the weak storied final fantasies with effeminate emo leads? I did like 9 and i still like the original Tactics. |

Final Fantasy 7 had a really good story line that actually made me a little bit sad. But I remember I was really young when I played it and probably wouldn't like it as much anymore. FF9 is also a very good one. |
I played FF7 in 1997, and got bored about half way through. It's only now since I am older that I play all the way through it 2-3 times a year and absolutely love the game. It seems as I get older it gets better. |

As for Vincent, you do know that before he was coffined he was a Turk right? He used to be a Turk, then some things happened, I gotta go play it through again..... but before Cloud meets him, and before he was in there he was a Turk. He should probably be in Before Crisis. |
Yea, Vincent was a turk. |

On the Turk thing, i dont really see them as being goofy so much as being nonchalantly casual in the grimness of their task. When you first meet the red head he barely acknowledges Cloud, instead debating whether or not he's worth killing. (i did laugh at the flower scene, perfectly illustrates his lack of empathy for anything). The next bunch of meetings are all roughly the same with the Turks fighting mostly because they have to but not seriously considering Avalanche anything but nuisances (Reno blows off Clouds crew in Junon right before you get the sub, stating he has a busy schedule and cant be bothered). Maybe its just me but a group of guys who kill shiat loads of people and then complain about vacation time arent really 'goofy'. callously amusing yes but they definatly arent good guys in the least. |

I didn't know much of Before Crisis, it never really interested me. So thanks for clearing that up. And yeah, the Turks are cool, but I still think there is some minor goofballage in them. "And don't step on the flowers!" |
i Love the game ff7 and i know about the game being remake but not the story. I hope they leave that alone to. I love the story and i love the remake because of the graphics. |

K baldoze, I already answered that question a few days ago. Roaming East, are you saying that Vincent is in Before Crisis? I wouldn't know, i haven't played it. If you're right, then that is one big screw-up. I'm not sure, but is it possible that Cloud may not be that age? Seeing as how he was implanted with Jenova cells and given a false memory, is it possible that he is older than they say? Anakin992 (good to see you again by the way, glad you found the thread) Reno and Rude fought together in Gongaga Village and in the sewers of Midgar (along with Elena), so it was one of those. And yh, the step on the flowers was quite comical. And just to explain on the whole Vincent/Coffin thing, he was a Turk assigned to guard Lucrecia Crescent who was working with Hojo. Vincent got pissed that she was going to allow her unborn child (Sephiroth) and herself to participate in the Jenova Project, in which they were both injected with Jenova cells. Vincent tried to stop Hojo, but (i believe) was shot, and infused with Chaos, allowing him to unleash it's power, but he was also experimented with other stuff (for example, the fact that his left arm is a metallic claw) |

Though she proved pretty unreliable in concerns to the rest of his history. |
That's exactly my point. I mean yh, she couldn't have a false memory implanted because her fighting teacher saved her (not remembering his name, it began with a Z), but her actual memory was crap anyway. But yh, i guess you're right. But as I asked before, is Vincent in Before Crisis? |
Is that the one thatis supposed to be on the PSP? All I know is that there is supposed to be a shitload of FF games coming out for the Sony Systems in the upcoming year. |
Yh, I think it's coming out for the PS3 and the PSP. Squall Leonhart, eh? Well, FF8 was good too, but this threads for FF7, so I'm not getting into a discussion about it. |
Don't woory about it. To tell you the truth, I like Cloud better. It's just that the Gunblade kicks ass. |
I'm not saying I hate Squall, heck i own FF8. I just don't want the thread to get off the idea of FF7, that's all. |
No problem BMan, me loveth FF! Yes it was the village place, I think something funny happened. Anyway, Tifa was pretty much useless, she had to remember Zack.... is her memory really crap? It has to be, since she should've been the one to shut Cloud up when he told all the lies. You'd think yoir childhood friend would know you better.... ah well. Its still nice to have her around. In fact, while I'm thinking about it, while FF7 was a very serious game, and the plot twist were amazingly placed to make you drop your jaw, there were some pretty comical moments. The whole date with mainly Tifa/Aeris in Golden Saucer made me laugh. Its said that you can date Yuffie (by someway of getting her way before Junon) and you can date Barret, though I've never seen. Needless to say, if I dated Barret I'd pick to kiss the dragon in the play! BTW, I cried twice so far in that game, almost 3. The first was Aeris death obviously. Even though I watched my father play it I never remembered how it happened, and when I finally saw it, it broke me. I cried when Cait Sith died, though I don't know why, since I already read that he comes back right after. And I nearly cried when Red re-united with his dad. it wasn't crying persay, it was more of a tear of joy.... |
I don't know whether or not you'd still go to play with Barret. I did go on a date with him (i was like WTF) but that was a back when the game came, so i don't really remember what happened. And you and me are pretty similar. I cried as well with the Aeris dying thing and when Red XIII was reunited with his father (and to everyone who reads, don't say we're pussies, it was a rather touching moment). When Cait Sith "died", i didn't care that much. And thought that all he said was that he was going to sacrifice the Mog body? And it doesn't REALLY matter because Cait Sith is a robot cat controlled by Reeve, who is a member of Shin-RA, INC. Aeris' death was the biggest tear jerker, and the music playing when you fight Jenova life was really depressing as well, althought eh song was great (listening to it right now). And when you said "No problem BMAN", what's that about? |
Oh, just finding the thread and posting in it! Glad to see you around. When Cait Died I was young, and I kinda liked him, lol. Its funny though, because the whole time my younger brother was telling me not to cry because he's coming right back. I still shed a single tear every time I hear the song "Interrupted By Fireworks" and Aeris's theme. Despite the fact that I was crying, I wanted to kick the crap outta Jenova Life. You dated Barret? You must've said all the wrong things to Tifa and Aeris. The way it works is your default date is Aeris. But along the whole journey before it, whenever you talk to her and get a choice, theres a good and bad choice. Its not always obvious which is good or bad. Like when first leaving Midgar you ask both Aeris and Tifa something, you get a personal choice (this is the good one) or "Its dangerous, sure you wanna come" which is the bad one. You have to say good things to the one you wanna date, and keep them in your party often. I've dated both Aeris and Tifa (every mans dream, hehe!) but never Barret. |
Yh, all you have to do is say all the mean things to them, to start don't buy a flower from Aeris. And never talk with either of them unless you're forced to. That way, you'll date Barret. |
Oh, I know how..... I just wouldn't want to! |
Anybody see Advent Children? |
Anybody haven't? Seriously, I had to be the last guy on the forum to see it, since months before release everyone else was talking about it. I've got the DVD, watched it so many times. |
I saw it, but it was the Japanese version with English subtitles. How were the voiceovers? |
I loved them, most of the voiceovers (if not all) were done by the people who played them in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. I think they were okay. Where did you see the Jap version? I'm curious, but because of legality if theres an issue where you got it from just say you can't tell me. Everyone saw the Jap with sub-titles way before it came out. |
I think the voiceovers were good (i also own it on DVD), especially the one for Vincent. Shogo Shukuzi does a really good job at adding a real deep voice to characters. He also did the voice of Zabuza in the english version of Naruto i believe, so if you've seen taht you can use that as a comparison. |
I saw it at mt friends house. I don't know were he got from. |
Well, i got it at Blockbuster, so if there's one near you, i'd go there. I think FYE also has it. |
I'll just buy it at Game Stop for $12.99 |
Anybody played that fighting game Erghiez(i think thats how you spell it)? It had people from FF7 as playable characters |
Nope, never heard of it. Although, a few years ago, I played some Mortal Combat game that had a create your own character thing, so i decided to make Sephiroth, and it had like all the stuff for him, the armour, the sword, the hairstyle, everything. |
MK:Armageddon, yeah, create a fighter rules. SPAM Anyway, I heard of that fighting game, but I've only seen images, its an old game I know. But with all the other stuff, KH1 and 2, Eg-whatever, Advent Children (which was totally kick ass) none are as good as the original master-piece. I just want them to remake it with killer graphics and the AC voice cast, I can see it already. I'd just want them to make it on 360, I mean, FFXI did good Square! |
I know, having voices this time around would just be amazing, although, i don't think that they can have in the 360 becaus eit has no contract with Sony, and most of the Final Fantasies from 7 up until now have been done on the Playstation systems, so i doubt it will be on the box. But what i've always liked about FF7 is the music. I really haven't found one song that i hated. I really like the songs from Advent Children, such the new One Wnged ANgel, The Promised Land, Battle in the Forgotten City, and the remakes of Those Who Fight and Those Who Fight Further. I listen to one of them at least once a day. |
Wow. The only FF7 song I listen to is the Boss music. Now that is is tight! |
Yay, someone actually went ot the website! Which ones did you listen to? |
Man I love FF7! One of the nicest games and the movie Advent Children was very nice! Hope they come up with more such movies! |
