Yeah I loved doing that too! haha i'd always try and get the materia to do that in ff7, i don't remember if i ever managed it or if it's possible though I gotta replay them again. And yeah I'm a girl... well a LADY I'd like to think!
hahaha that's right sweetie, and i'm not the only one there are other girl's on here too i've noticed which is awesome. and I meant being able to kill anything with one strike on ff7, as you would on ff8 with status-j, i think i recollect that doing that was possible.
Yes, in FF7, they're are numerous ways to take out an opponent, with an instant death move anyway. The slash-all materia's second ability was called Flash, wich would cause instant death to all opponents, as long as they weren't immune to it. I developed a rather nasty combo with that. I had that materia with Barret, and i also had the added-effect and contain materias paired into his weapon. When i used flash, it would cause instant death, and confuse/stop/ or petrify any of the monsters that were not killed. It worked like a dream.
4X Cut was nice.... and I came up with great materia combos.
Quadra magic + W-Summon equals doing 2 summons 4 times in one turn.
Final Attack = Phoenix Summon = (if you had enough MP) near invicibility.
There are a few other great combos too.... and I can beat the final 3 bosses with ease now.
assuming you had mastered all of them. a pretty devasting setup was Added effect+Gravity, Counter+Deathblow.
The initial hit would drop most non-boss enemies by about 75% health and if your character was hit, he would in turn land a guaranteed deathblow. Made battle square mind numbingly easy. Adding X2 or x4 would pretty much kill outright any non boss fiend in the game. There wasnt a single creature in the Northern crater that took more than one round of attacks for my crew to kill, thats without summons or magic.
If you were REALLY bored, you could add for example counter +enemy skill with the only skill in the orb being Shadow Flare and then stack a shiat load of other counters in the same weapon like in Yuffies conformer. Having shadow flare proc 7 or so times after being hit at no mana cost was pretty damn awesome.
Once you learned the magic system, the game was actually too easy. i think they over powered the materia setup but having tried playing the game like any other final fantasy (limit magic to only certain characters and then only certain types) the game is retardly hard. FF7 is all about mastering the materia combos.
