I hope they don't do something stupid like that. They just need to leave the damn game alone and actually come up with another final fantasy game that measures up to it. But the way they are doing them now, I doubt that is going to happen.
Final Fantasy 7 had a really good story line that actually made me a little bit sad. But I remember I was really young when I played it and probably wouldn't like it as much anymore. FF9 is also a very good one.
I played FF7 in 1997, and got bored about half way through. It's only now since I am older that I play all the way through it 2-3 times a year and absolutely love the game. It seems as I get older it gets better.

That is interesting because I feel the exact opposite. As I've gotten older I've moved away from RPGs and play more shooters on the PC and racing games on the consoles. Go figure...
They need to stop making so much poorly plotted fanservice stuff. its destroying the original concept. As an example, take one of the recurring villains in the original game, the Turks. A shadowy bunch of corporate assassins who at one point wipe out a section of a city with little more than a smug sneer. Flash forward to the post game movie, and apparently they've become the goofy comedic sidekicks of a character who SHOULD be dead (Rufus).
Lets look at another compilation, Before Crisis. Why the f--- is Vincent in that game? from the first game, he was coffined up immediately following discovery that his love interest had got knocked up by Hojo. He wasnt de-coffinated until Clouds crew woke him up. Ergo, for the entirety of Sephiroths life, or at the very least since his childhood, Vincent should have been AWOL.
Its this kinda stuff thats diminishing the series the more they squeeze it and thats a shame because i really love the original game
As do I, but as I see it they were always goofy clowns, Reno was hilarious every time I saw him, specially when you fight him and Rude in that one place (forgot). But yeah, they we're goofy, and always got the job done. I though AC was a pretty good make of them.
As for Vincent, you do know that before he was coffined he was a Turk right? He used to be a Turk, then some things happened, I gotta go play it through again..... but before Cloud meets him, and before he was in there he was a Turk. He should probably be in Before Crisis.
yes but the game itself said he was in the coffin for 30 years. Cloud is in his lower 20's, meaning the entirety of his life had seen Vincent MIA. The time frame for before crisis is when Cloud was working for Shinra, roughly 10 years before the start of the game and 5 years before Nibelheim got torched. Vincent should NOT be in Before Crisis.
On the Turk thing, i dont really see them as being goofy so much as being nonchalantly casual in the grimness of their task. When you first meet the red head he barely acknowledges Cloud, instead debating whether or not he's worth killing.
(i did laugh at the flower scene, perfectly illustrates his lack of empathy for anything). The next bunch of meetings are all roughly the same with the Turks fighting mostly because they have to but not seriously considering Avalanche anything but nuisances (Reno blows off Clouds crew in Junon right before you get the sub, stating he has a busy schedule and cant be bothered).
Maybe its just me but a group of guys who kill shiat loads of people and then complain about vacation time arent really 'goofy'. callously amusing yes but they definatly arent good guys in the least.
