I guess it has something to do with the fact that beta testing is not about personal relationship, but about getting the software in the best state possible. In the end, someone is going to be unhappy because he hasnt been chosen whatever you do. So i guess they went randomly in all the different computer configurations. Frankly, im really disappointed to have been kept out of the beta test, especially since i've been following the progress of that game for a long time (even though i wasnt posting). But the guys at Shiny already have enough problems without us whining about why we are not in the beta test. As long as they can fix everything and give us a great game in less than 2 months, i'll be happy. Too bad for now, but the longer you wait, the better it is (look at diablo 2. hehehe ok bad exemple here http://forums.voodooextreme.com/smile.gif |

I think the Shiny team are losers for now letting everyone who posts on the forums into the test. I mean come on, people who havn't even been following the game got into the test. This is ridiculous. Many of us here have been awaiting the beta test, and some loser punks who manage to find the site get into the test?!! What the heck is this?! ANd also, Tciny got into the test.....what a surprise......not like it was fixed or anything......... |

2 months is actually a VERY long time..... Think of this......every day you visit sacrifice.net and everyday you read the forums multiple times.... Now do this for 2 months and the hours really start to add up..... |

Sorry to the members of the boards who didnt get the oportunity to be part of the beta test, but...the shiny team of losers has absolutely nothing to do with this!! We werent consulted on who should get in. The beta test is run by the guys at interplay, and all they are interested in are the machine specs and covering the widest spectrum of people who applied. Maybe they chose people who werent that familiar with the game for that reason. To see what they would think as a relative newcomer..maybe to test the impulse buy potential. We certainly suggested letting all the loyal posters to this board be in on it, but they dont listn to us. We just make the game. For those who did get in, its a chance for you to test the multiplayer aspect, but all the fans will be able to play the single player when it comes out. At least the beta test guys will have something else to look forward to. |
Actually I chose the beta testers from the near 10,000 entries that I had to read through, sort by machine, video card and location to name a few things. The beta testers have been selected on previous experience, machine, video card and geographic location only .... there weren't any shortcuts. If people have a hard time accepting those facts then I'm sorry... what would you like me to do ... hold up the game while I prepare extra CD's, etc. Beta Testers will have to sign an NDA which prohibits any screenshots, discussions, distribution of anything connected with the beta to anyone or anywhere other than Shiny or the Gamespy Forums that will be setup for the test. Anyone abusing this will be removed from the test. I don't want PR/ Marketing Plans ruined or Game Secrets revealed before the game has been released ... that is not fair. Shiny surely isn't a team of losers for chosing people that are probably new to this game, since those people have a more objective point of view to the whole game and notice things, die hard fans like us here on the board would never think of. All right you lucky Beta Testers! Do your job and do it well. It's a great game (I got to test the Multi Player for sevearl hours on a Market Survey). The sooner your done, the sooner it goes gold and it gets in our hands! |

The objective behind having 1000 testers is to make sure atleast a minority do their job successfully. During UO beta they would fix a bug and from that fix cause a new imbalance or bug. That drove us crazy so we pretty much gave up on testing. Shiny is just one of those companies that can take out the trash, clean the kitchen, and scrub the floor before they even release a beta. School... and travelling to/from school. I get lagged with all the commuting. In fact, I'm in school right now.
