I have the exact same specs (well, I tried GF1 and GF3, I don't have a GF2) and it dies horribly http://www.veforums.com/frown.gif

Are you using the new VIA 4.23 4-in-1 drivers?
Do you run as administrator?
What M.P. options do you use?

I have a PIII 500, with 128 MB RAM and a Geforce2 MX card, and I still hafta run the game in medium detail (which isn't that bad, but stiiillll...so JEALOUS). AIEEE

Soon, I'm ditching the Intel market and buying top-notch AMD hardware. Since the geForce 2 Ultra uses DDR-RAM, I figure it will greatly improve performance.

Whats your point!? There are motherboards for your p-3 that use DDR...AMD is like a heat seeking missile...we all know what happends in the end http://www.veforums.com/biggrin.gif

I tried running it under Win2k SP2 and had absolutely no luck. There were massive problems with clipping and tearing that were somehow driver related. But once I switched back to Win98SE (running dual boot now), the game runs fantastic.

On this system I run it at 800x600x32 with graphics maxed out and it runs very well. It slows down in two places. In the garage level, which seems to be the most hardware intense level in the game. And at the beginning of levels while it's still loading some stuff.

On both systems Max Payne runs bug free, never had a crash, lockup or video error.

Helios July 28th, 2001 03:54 PM

Might want to keep this thread going so it doesnt look like everyone has problems with the game. It kinda looks like that because most people that have the game and is working properly is playing it.....
