Vietnam Games

Ok, I am interested to see, are there any good Vietnam games? I'm looking for one that really makes you feel like you were there, similar to how Call of Duty does WWII, but better if somehow possible. It doesn't have to be a shooter, btw.

The only vietnam game I've played is Battlefield: Vietnam. But if you have a look over at amazon.co.uk for vietnam games there should be a large selection with review to go with them too.

I would recommend Vietcong:Purple Haze (has the original and the expansion) or there is also Men of Valor: Vietnam.

The original Vietcong + Fist Alpha, are miles above the rest, I think they even beat the sequel that was made.

Vietcong 2 is just poor.

The original Vietcong had its problems but made up for it by being quite a different game to other shooters.

Vietcong 2 has its problems and doesn't really do anything new.

It's a shame really, Vietcong is one of my favorite games ever I just couldn't wait for the sequel, but damn it was just one massive let down.

only game i've played that was vienam related was conflict:vietnam. I would not recomend this game. It had the same problems as all the other Conflict series games. Crappy camera angle, bad aiming at times, sometimes overall cheapness(such as how the hell did i die! i was 50 feet from that c4). I've heard Men of Valor is pretty good, i might check that one out.

Re: Vietnam Games

BF Nam is the most realistic one. The others really try too hard to capture the open-ness of the 60's, rather than the brutality and dark light that the war carried. BF Vietnam captured the war in the gaming world, as apocolaypse now and platoon did in the movie world.

Re: Vietnam Games

Haha, BF Nam is not the most realisitic one for sure.

Re: Vietnam Games

No its not the most realistic one. Trust me when you can use a heavy mg as a sniper rifle theres something wrong with the realism.

Eve of Destruction for Battlefield 1942 is a hell of a lot of fun.

And it's being ported to Battlefield2.

See, I'd prefer to not feel like I am there. Mosquitos, punji sticks, ambushes? No thank you!

It would be interesting if there was a game that accurately replicated it, sometimes having an eventful patrol, in real time, you have to watch where you put your feet, you have to deal with the monotony, shattered by brief intervals of excitement and panic.

If you choose to be an officer, you start as a 2Lt, and the game ends about 18 seconds after you get off the plane.

I don't see it selling, though:p

I've always hoped that the makers of CoD would make a Vietnam game. They could probably do it right and make it a great game. That, and why do we need a CoD 3 based in yet again, WWII? They need a new war already.
