Simple thread:Do you use W,A,S,D; 8,2,4,6 or the arrows?What do you find more "useable"
I use the arrows, thanks to MOHAA and BF42. I do find Q to be more easy, since the mouse sort of cramps my wrist, so I usally move my keyboard, but arrows are more easyier in my opion.

Arrows for left handers....But if your a right hander and you use the arrow keys theres definately something wrong with you...

I've used arrows since I was 15... until this year, when I started using WASD thanks to a couple of RPGs I played. Seems a lot easier come to think of it.

I am a righty and use my left hand for arrows and right for mouse.

the WASD gives you access to the spacebar, shift, ctrl, tab, and basically any other keys you may need.......


teh arrows suck cuz they dont give you that access

I've always used WASD, because it means I can reach all the keys I need without having to overwork myself.

I use a weird setup:
Mouse:
Right Mouse Button = Run/Forward
Left Mouse Button = Fire
Scroll Wheel = Zoom/Alt Fire

Keyboard:
A = Jump
Left Shift = Left Strafe
X= Right Strafe
Space Bar = Backup
Q = Next Weapon
ALT = Reload

and game specific added configs.

WASD, more keys close around to press. Being left handed it's also more comfortable to operated on the left side of your computer and keyboard. :) I used to go for arrow keys until a year (or two?) ago though.

wasd all the way. its in easy reach of any button u mite want and more. spehly wiv all the force pwers on JK. i ave Q as grip, E as drain, R as rage, G as heal, i cud go on n on)

Friend of mine uses the same set-up. He can pwn all, however when he tries to used WASD he sucks something terrible.

The first FPS I played in 2000/2001 used arrow keys which I used until 2003. In 2003 during a lightsaber duel on Valley of the Jedi Tower my opponent somehow managed to persuade me to use the mouse. Before I always had aimed with the keyboard, but after that moment my movement controls moved to the WASD keys where they remain still.

Of course there is always the odd game that requires completely different setups...

Well, when Doom 1 and 2 were the big thing, as well as Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny, it was simple: just use the arrow keys. But as newer FPS games were coming out, I found WASD to be much much better. Provided a better an easier way of strafing, and in cooperation with the mouse, game a new and refreshing feel to aiming. :p

WASD, ofcourse. I used arrows a few years ago, but that was hell, being right handed. This is way easier.

I would say it's more of a hell for lefties since their hand would be so far to the right while they use their left hand to press the keys. Or more likely: Since most people use the left hand for the keyboard and the right hand for the mouse it feels better if you can have both arms more or less stretched straiht out rather then at an angle.

I was once a fan of the arrow keys, but over the past three years I have found the asdw configuration more inviting.

I can't use wasd. I've tried, and I just plain suck at it. I've used arrows for so long (~15 years), that I just can't use anything else. You know that "You can't teach an old dog..." line, well I'm that dog.

And to be honest, there are plenty of keys around the arrows within easy reach, so combined with my 5 button mouse, I hold my own just fine.

WASD usually, but I sometimes use ESDF for games like WoW, so I can bind the surrounding keys to skills.

W, A, S, D, is more comfortable i just started to use it when I started playing Doom 3.

I've always used arrows, and still do, despite being right handed. I've never seen the need for using wasd. The arrow keys are fine, and there are enough keys surrounding the arrows to make do. For example, you can use 7,4,1, and Ins. Then also Delete, End etc. Then also enter, shift and control. Then some others which can be reached with a little extra movement.

Works fine for me ;)

Thats pretty awkwad. In Battlefield 2 for an example I use both W,A,S,D and Arrows (mainly in aircraft/choppers though).

I use the arrows, I use the shift key to sprint and the kp end (or the 1 end key) to roll or bash, and when I jump using the space bar I put my thumb on top of the forward arrow key and then my little finger to jump with the space bar.

.... bloody hell that's hard, lol I can't stretch my thumb to the up arror with my pinky on the space bar without turning my hand. And that's really quite difficult, not to mention uncomfortable

WASD, I've never really used anything else, other than the arrow keys when playing Doom I & II.

Depends on the game, when the games were easier with arrows I used them. Now when WASD is easier I use it..

I use the arrow keys, but I can use either. I grew up playing Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, the default controls for those had arrows, I think.

WASD is where it's at. It feels more balanced. And there's more surrounding keys to use for actions. It just works out better.

I use wads, i'm left handed and cannot comprehend how anybody could use a mouse lefthandedly, its just plain stupid (no offence any one).
I dont use it much (most games arn't diverse enough yet) but i think the best thing to use is 'esfd' you just have so much control, i'v yet to find a game which has to many controlls for it.

I'm left handed, but I use my right for the mouse, and WASD.

When I switiched over to my laptop at the start of this year, I had to readjust my fingers, to fit the small keys. I can still play FH though... just.
