Not sure about the rankings, but it won't have red blood or boobies as advertised. All to beat the M rating that they were branded with anyway. Lol. Sometimes money schemes backfire I guess.

TFS_BlackJack December 6th, 2000 09:18 PM

Sad about the breasts but there saying that they will release a blood patch to download once the game is out. http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif

At least I don't continually spam the forum with rubbish all the time. Moron.

Oh and I doubt a ranking system would do you any good, your too busy posting rubbish here than actually playing the game it would seem.

I play with Scapex mostly so can do both at once http://www.veforums.com/biggrin.gif

Are you trying to get a rise out of me cause my gf is the only one that can do that. *)
I just dont find it very fun to play for nothing...I have always loved to play for something "rank" it makes it very fun.
Dont you wonder about the 15 people max in the multi-player...thats due to rankings and the interface of the gamespy server. I know nobody will listen to me and thats fine because I plan to move on if theres no plans to implementing a ranking system...I dont expect interplay to bow to my likes nor do they expect to keep people coming back into the multi-player rooms once people find out...this is all there is.
Just my thought and a sad one at that...if you ever played myth:the fallen lords you might understand just how fun a ranking system can be and how much it extends the pure clan/multi-player experence.
Have a great night all!
P.S.
How do you know I dont play online much, just because I have time to post in the forums?...well I do 8)

...um.... back to the topic...

The developers officially said that they WILL release a red blood patch to the game.

No information about making her topless again. Yup. Interplay really screwed up this time. We know it, and they know it.

I'm not buyin' nothin' unless I see some screenshots of what the game is REALLY gonna' look like. ...and even then... who knows... Perhaps if they release a skin patch.... but just knowing that my newly bought CD has to be patched twice before I even consider playing.... yuck!!!

I would have prefered them releasing the game a day late to fix the thing before sending it out. Sheesh!!!

gabeybaby December 7th, 2000 11:14 AM

No boobies WTH! I'm not gonna buy a game that was supposed to have boobies, but isn't. Is it just me or do those Slyphs get a rise out of you too!? damn those cute little voices!

Yeah and I remember the Starcraft one, cheating was more rampant (There was more reason too) people beat on newbies for cheap wins, created loads of animosity between most of the b-net populace (Mind not that there wasn't a ton anyway) and basically the only people who won were in fact the ones who could play the most games, mostly whoever could find the most newbies quickest.

I personally don't care but it was that POS ranking system and things which turned me off SC. Not too mention the person I played with 1021-5-17 or something who I beat in around 20minutes as they had been comp stomping for most of the time (Note that wasn't the official ladder, just out of game ones)

Rankings systems add tons of fun AND bragging rights to multiplayer. What more do you want? Although Starcraft turned into a newbie slaughterfest it was still fun!

westwood for tiberan sun had a great ranking system, i reached rank 400 in 2 days. The way it worked was you beat some one with a higher rank yours goes up, beat some one with a lower it still goes up but not as much. They also hide the rank on the person later on becuase people with higher ranks woudlnt play people with lower ranks. So the only way to see the ranks were to go to a webpage. And with alot of people that made it pretty much more effort than it was worth.

TFS_BlackJack December 7th, 2000 08:10 PM

That sounds like the ranking system in Worms:Armaggedon.

Frog in a Box December 7th, 2000 08:39 PM

The problem with rankings is that you can never have a perfect ranking system. Myth is a good example. The only game-type you could play if you really wanted to get a high ranking were team dark maps. If you played team light maps or FFAs, you simply couldn't gather enough points to compete with the people who played if i had a trow, the reason being that more people played dark maps than light maps (so it made it a lot easier to get a game) and point loss/gain in FFA for high ranked players was ridiculous. If an emp won an FFA with 4 other emps in the game, he would get about half the points an emp on an emp/emp team playing a emp/emp team would get. As if that were not bad enough, 5 emp FFAs were VERY rare...most of the time, I would have to settle for playing with shields and princes and stuff, which made the points situation for even worse. in most of the games i played, i would lose points if i didn't win, and even if i did win, i would get a ridiculously low number of points. if i ever got 3rd or lower, i would lose an absolutely insane number of points....enough to drop me to lord most of the time. couple this with the fact that emps get rushed alot during ranked FFAs (because the low rankers know that if an emp gets last, everybody else in the game gets a TON of points) and you have a very FFA hostile ranking system. that's why i (and a lot of other players) usually played in the unranked rooms....because we got tired of getting attacked by 3 other players right off the bat just because we were higher ranked than they were...and because even if we did beat them off and win, we would only get about the same number of points an emp on an emp/emp team would get for beating a shield/shield team.

i'm not saying shiny shouldn't implement a ranking system...i actually hope they do, as it can be a lot of fun. i just hope that they will make sure it's a balanced ranking system for both ranked and FFA players. for me, at least, the myth ranking system was only fun when i played if i had a trow. the system was pretty accurate about who was the best on that map, but it was really inaccurate when it came to ranking people who didn't play it as their primary map.

Siege December 7th, 2000 08:46 PM

Just for the record, Giants does in fact have a multiplayer rankings system.

Blue88 December 7th, 2000 09:53 PM

Yeah I used to play a lot of Myth II (ranked in the double and single digits, didn't do so well in tourneys though) but after a while I went back to unranked because it was so hard to find anything besides team emp games, and I detest team games.

Aegeri December 8th, 2000 12:23 AM

The system Jhonnyfire mentioned (Which I remembered myself just then) I would support, it reduces newbie bashing and forces good players to play similary ranked players to win.
