EVE Online Trial

Hi all, i am thinking about downloading the trial for EVE to test it before i buy it (if i like it). I am just wondering though, how does the 14 day trial work. Does it use the xp clock to time the 14 days or does the game tell you that your trial is up and that you cant play? (i cant cope with complicated stuff!). thanks.
