[There, I said it.] I like the game but it's not really about the team work and having fun, it's more about looking good with specular lighting HDRL visuals, [Aftermath anyone?] and the spirit of CS is dead. I've been playing since Beta 2.0 of CS, and I'm not an old school 1.6 guy, but it was better in a few ways. I remember one of my biggest let downs in CSS when it first came out through Steam was the utter stupidity of the bots. If I was in charge of coding/point navigating the bots over at Valve, I'd just sit down and work on those SOBs until they were near perfect. I'd work days and nights to recode those worthless excuses. None of this wall stumbling, gathered around closed doors and vertical ladders. That's what I think hurts CSS the most; the complete idiocy of the bots. I play MP sometimes, but I always get kicked after a few rounds where my score is like 32/2. What was that old line, [I'll probably really f it up] "10 kills in unreal is godlike, 20 kills in quake 3 is perfect, and 20 kills in counterstrike is kicked by console." That is so true. Plus MP is full of whiney and smack-talking noobs. I wonder where CS will go next? What is after the HL2 engine? |
