Games suck these days

With the exception of the First Person Shooter genre, it seems most of the games released lately have some serious flaw. They either have good graphics and bad gameplay. Or good gameplay and bad graphics. I have found this to be most noticeable in the RPG genre.

It's the fact that most of these developers are only considered with graphics, while their gameplay and stories sorely lack.

yeah basically what Mihail said, or either they're a copy of another game with no difference, or less things you can do. I prefer to stick with most games from like 2000 - 2003

Personally I think FPS is one of the worst genres about at the moment [with the exception of BF2], as well as a lack of games, there is no innovation. Other genres, RTS, RPGs, are at least trying to push boundaries a little bit.

I'm sure that rabid community of Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike fanboys would disagree. I however enjoyed games like Doom 3, Far Cry, and Area 51, though they did perhaps lack innovation as you say. The only games I'm looking forward to at the moment are Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Quake IV, neither of which are due to be released anytime soon.

Everyone, go play God of War. That was an awesome game in graphics, storyline, theme (Greek mythology is so inherently cool and with such a great possibility on a video game, it's amazing no one thought of it before), and the controls were excellently thought out. It has an amazing replay value, unlockables, and just jaw-dropping coolness. To the team that made that game

The only problem with God of War is, when you really look at it, it's not that inovative, it's a hacknslash with some mild RPG elements thrown in. I'm not saying it isn't fun, everyone should defineately play this excellent game, but it's given a bit to much credit.

GTA has Bad Graphics and Good Gameplay, GTA III and GTA : VC had good (Believeable) Stories, SA.. not so much.

Lets see... yeah God of War was good... uh... Yeah?

Bring back games like Myst and Reven, they kicked serious butt.
