Default Tips for a Newbie?

I downloaded AA 2.4 yesterday and have been playing it a bit, but have had my arse handed to me repeatedly. I downloaded 1.2 or some ancient version quite a while ago and did most of the training missions on my old computer but never managed to get the sniper qualification. I did it first time last night and then completed the Sniper training missions which I am quite chuffed about. I couldnt for the life of me do it before, and now to just do it first go

Anyway im not too good on multiplayer on it, and tend to get my arse smacked. Are there any tips or advice you could give a newbie? I found the AA Strategy newsletter thing here
I cant pay for this and dont know if ill be playing AA for long because BF2 comes out very soon. I might stick with AA if i dont just keep getting owned constantly so any nuggets of experience you could pass on?

Well heres how I play:
Stay low, be cautious and only rush if you know you can take them;
Don't attack big groups, even two opfor can be a handful, pop them off one at a time;
If you're attacking someone close up and you're both going opposite directions (Left - right) fire just infront of the body of the enemy you're attacking;
Be extremely quick with your kills, if it takes more than one clip to kill someone always take cover to reload because where theres one, you can always guarantee that theres another one somewhere around watching you.

Start off on the smaller, less tactical maps such as Bridge Crossing, Mountain Ambush etc. and work up to the harder maps which require more knowledge of the map, tactical decisions and stuff like that, you also get more points for it

Play as if it were real life. THis isn't Quake, anything rambo or unrealistic gets you killed.

Don't worry about being accused of camping, those who "camp" come home alive at the end of the day.

I get killed a lot too, I'm too used to games where you can rush and come out with a graze. I need to attune myself to slow, tactical movements and shizzle.

The thing is those weapons don't make for very good assualt weapons like that, they are too large. They are better for supporting roles.

The M16 is really the best weapon to use for offensive purposes like that.

All depends upon preferences I guess. I hate getting up close and personal. I like to be as far away as possible, so I've always found the M16 to be my best friend.

I'll try out the Ak-47 later today, I've never really used it before, and I have been playing for two years.

i like the M16 on bridge, because its good for long-ish ranges and close up, but the AK47 is the best weapon on the map for getting up close and personal because it is fully auto, which is devestating in CQ
