Repost: Messiah won't run!

Problem: When I launch the executable (either the d3d or glide version), I get as far as the text saying "Messiah initializing, could take several minutes on the first run.", at which point nothing happens, even after 10-15 minutes of waiting.
I downloaded dx7a, and I also got the latest glide drivers for my Creative Voodoo 2.
In addition, I tried running with the -s and or -v command line args. None of these things fixed the problem I'm having. I also tried ctrl-f9 to see if there were any error messages behind the app, and there were none. When I tried ctrl-alt-del, Messiah was shown as not responding. Has
anyone encountered this problem (or something similar) before, and if so, what was the solution?

My system:
PII 400
Creative Voodoo 2
Awe 64 sound card
128 mb ram
7.8 gig hd / roughly 4.0 gig free
24x cd rom

Solomon,

The intro is being showed on your primary display driver, so please tell us which one you have?

My primary display card is Diamond Stealth 3D 2000.

Please try -i to skip the intro so we can see if you are able to play the game.

I tried -i, no dice. Messiah still hangs at the "initializing" text message.

Thanks for the response, btw.

Here we go again...this is a last ditch effort!!

Please try to run GLIDE version with -s -o -v -i -m +2 +h in the command line.

If it still hangs, there will be a saxseng.txt file in the same folder as you installed Messiah, please open this and see
if there is anything in there.

Tried the "-s -o -v -i -m +2 +h" cmd arg, didn't make a difference. The saxseng.txt file is blank.

Is it possible that something in the installation got screwed up? I did a custom install, but the only option available was character textures, which I selected.

Are you using your 3dfx reference drivers downloaded from 3dfx.com?

Those are the ones that the game was tested on.

If that doesn't work, please email your phone number (or email address if you prefer) to messiahfeedback@shiny.com so we can help you out. (Please add a link to this thread for reference)
