ATI Radeon 9000 pro All right... Would an ATI Radeon 9000 pro (in combination w/ a Pentium 4 2.53 Ghz) be good enough to get the max out of the game? :lookaround: I know, this question doesn't really make sense but I'm getting a new computer and I was wondering how good exactly this video card was and if I would be able to actually play the game w/ full detail. Is it as good as a GeForce-4 4200? Thx anyway :D |
Well longhorn I'd go with a Radeon 9500 64mb or 8500 64mb. The 9000 really wasn't a good series. 8500 and 9700 are the best u can get. Don't get the 8500pro though because it's 128mb but it gets less fps than a 8500 64mb one. I have a 750064mb and it works really well. also the 9500 i was talking about is brand new made by ATI for those who don't wanna spend $400 on a 9700. Hard to find though. the 8500 is as good as a GF4 Ti4400 at least, the AIW (all in wonder) 8500 is about 10 fps loser than a GF4 Ti4600. MAKE SURE U DONT GET GYPED ON UR VID CARD!!! ESPECIALLY GF4 |
See for me over here in Germany it ain't that easy to find a descent video card and I don't think that ATI ever published them new models over here (except for the 9500+ maybe). :uhm: But thanks anyway, I'm gonna go look for it as soon as I can! :) |
I have a Radeon 9000 Pro 64mb card. Mostly it works well, but in several maps there is a problem where the sky has corners - like the holo deck on the Enterprise is starting to short out. I built a computer for my daughter that had a ATI Radeon 8500 128 mb - that was truly awesome. If money is an issue - isn't it always - get a slower chip and put the money into a much better video card. You will never miss .4 or .5 Ghz. and you will have a much better time playing AA with a serious video card. |
just buy a card online. if the company wont ship to you then just goto ebay |
