If you don't learn something new every day, that day has been wasted. :nodding:

Is it only a coincidence that "refrigerator" has the word "frige" in it?

Refrigerator and Fridge are the same thing. Fridge is a shortened form of Refrigerator. You can't look at actual definitions here, or you'll come up with the answer that Freezers, Refrigerators, and Chillers are the same thing .They are all things that cool.

What you know of Santa today is nothing more than a commercialized version of the original myth. The original myth was that he also had a demon companion who travelled with him. Santa would give toys to the good children, but allow the demon to eat the naughty children. And then Capitalism grabbed onto him, and they morphed him into a holly jolly fat fellow who places gifts under your tree on Christmas night.

Blame U'merica!

Indeed Saint Nicolas is around in various shapes and forms throughout Europe. Besides a great festivity for children it does make for great humour too though.

On a more serious note: some uptight people have been accusing the Dutch event of being "racist" and now even got the UN involved to see if Sinterklaas is racist (the Black Pete(r)s being slaves etc. rather then jolly, friendly characters who ae envied by many children and helping out an old bugger like Saint Nicolas who has got a terrible memory and needs his black helpers to help him out. *sigh*
