Our troops from both sides of the pond have an uphill struggle and I don't see that a satisfactory outcome will arise.
There are targets to withdraw from Afghanistan and I doubt those targets will be met, ever. When we do withdraw things seem like they may degrade rapidly.
Low morale is bound to occur given the hopeless task that seems to bestow the men and women out there right now. The lack of intelligence, comms issues, etc. can all be overcome. But, the fact that the Afghan army and police are undertrained, and recruited from anyone who essentially needs something to do, does not an effective army make. They're undisciplined.
So basically yeah, it's messed up. But we've known this for years. |
