Publishing company Ziff Davis is shutting down iconic gaming news sites UGO, 1UP, and GameSpy, according to a memo sent to employees by CEO Vivek Shah today.
More in the article. I'm surprised GameSpy still exists, but I remember 1up. I wonder if Filefront would have been among those shut down in that scenario? Yeah we're not so active right now but if we were in that boat, I'm sure we would have gotten the axe.
'We' are not quite active, but the main page seems to be, and Filefront has 32,000 likers in Facebook. Who are those guys, why don't they come here!?
After falling revenues, it's a common 'strategy' to buy companies to cover it up and retain the same equity. It's just weird how Ziff Davis seems to be doing this time after time as some sort of last-ditch effort without actually trying to innovate anything in the companies they buy.

Wonder how Filefront would do if they got on board with Greenlight or Steam Workshop. Never really thought about it, but are there really any networks dedicated to newer games that are supported by the Steam Workshop project thiny?
Yes, hella random.
This originally caught my interest because I follow LoL so adamantly, and IPL (IGN's eSports poster event) not happening (rumor) is a big thing for LoL.

GameFront is doing very well, but it's a totally separate demographic to the modding community that the forum and network is based on, hence the discrepancy. A lot of that is due to the downfall in modding and the network sites, too.
GameFront's articles, YouTube videos, Facebook etc. all provide their own means for users to interact so they have no reason to come to a forum.
