Default Antibiotic Azithromycin

Has anyone taken the antibiotic Azithromycin? Did you have any side effects? Did it work for you?

I had the cold/flu so my Doctor gave me Azithromycin in 5 doses. Just took the last pill, feeling a lot better, can breath out of my nose but can't smell! I can taste fine though. It's kind of making me paranoid. Waiting on the nurse to call me back.

Have anyone had this happen with this or any other antibiotic? Did your sense of smell return?

Default Re: Antibiotic Azithromycin

I had antibiotics a few years ago for a particularly nasty chest infection (which unfortunately manifested itself while I was carrying my steel-framed push bike down a flight of stairs and I collapsed). I don't know what kind of antibiotics they were, but they caused some degree of digestive problems. No loss of smell though, and the digestive problems ceased when I stopped taking them.

I don't think you should be having antibiotics for a cold or the flu though. To my knowledge both of those illnesses are viral in nature, and antibiotics will not affect them if so.

Both issues are primarily viral in nature, this year's strain has been coming as viral, going away, then manifesting itself as bacterial, weird stuff.
