So lets say you have a time machine, you decide to jump into it and give it a try thinking you'll do something amazing, but it ends up with a malfunction of some sort and you are hurled back in time to somewhere on earth in the last 2012 years of earth history with no way of getting back home, where do you end up? and how screwed are you?
I landed on 954 ad in Barbados, I'd say I've landed in a pretty great place, tropics plus the natives called Arawak were nice Indians as far as information that was recorded about them says. Europeans won't arrive for another 400+ years, so I'll basically be stuck there for the rest of my life.
I'm in the year 1217 in the Pacific ocean. I assume I'm on some expedition with some famous navigator. I'm living in terrible rat infested conditions and I'll probably die of scurvy. Exciting.
Somalia, 885. On a scale of 1-10? I'd be on a 15. No idea what state Somalia was in during the 9th century, but I'm guessing tribal warfare, maybe a few hundred animal attacks. Better get used to endurance hunting.
EDIT: Not to forget the constant risk of European crusaders or Middle Eastern invasions either!

Hope you know how to blend in, you're surrounded by germanic tribes that weren't too nice! on the bright side you only have about 2000+km to civilization =)

You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you.
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger,
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew.

A chain of tropical islands in the south pacific, before they had contact to rest of the world. At least they were inhabited, so I get to spend the rest of my days playing missionary with the local girls. Or if I get tired of that I could make my way to New Guinea (the Polynesians were good sailors) and from there to Europe, where I could sell some of my knowledge about modern technologies.
