Eyes
 

So I have been thinking about this for the last thirty minutes or so. I don't know much about genetics, and I was curious to see what you all think.

A few years ago, my mother told me that my father wasn't my biological father, and I ended up meeting the one she told me was. Now at the time my father and mother were on a break I guess, so she fooled around with this guy I suppose. Anywho..

My mom has blue eyes, my "biological father" has grey blue eyes and I managed to come out with brown eyes. (Side note: my Dad has brown eyes).

I was just curious about how likely it is for blue eyed parents to have a brown eyed child, I'm know it's possible and all but curious to know...



Anyone of you kind of in the same boat? And not the father thing :P But you come out with totally different eyes then your parents or maybe your siblings did?

My father has brown, my mother has blue, and I have brown. And yes, it is apparently possible for two blue-eyed parents to have a brown-eyed child.

Dad has green, Mom has brown, I have brown.

Dafuq. I want my Dad's eyes. Green eyes and red hair just seem to go together.

My moms father has blue and her mother green. My bio dads mother and father both had green!

Bleh, I'm the odd one outta the bunch! I wish mine was blue or green. I just don't really like my eye color that much, I find it dull.

I wonder what colour eyes my parents have. You know, I never thought to really look before. Just one of those things you look at without seeing and taking note of.

Hmm, going by the pictures on facebook, my mother has blue eyes and my father is a teddy bear.

As for myself, I've brown eyes.

Though I wouldn't mind having some spare eyes, perhaps in a variety of colours.

But that's kind of odd. Everyone in my close family have the same colour eyes as far as I (eye) remember.

Heh, I know what you're feeling.

My father has grey-blue eyes and my mother has hazelnut-brown. I have the same as my mother, although I would've loved to have blue eyes. Blue eyes and black hair looks great, and there are some people who have that. Definitely jealous of that.

I think both my parents have blue-green eyes, so I have them too. Some things are always determined by the father and some always by the mother, however for everything else (like eye color, I think) you inherit from your parents, it is all about who has the dominate and recessive gene.

It is possible for 2 blue eyed people to have a brown eyes child, even though brown eyes is considered to be the dominant gene.


I have blue eyes, as does my mother and real dad. I've always been complimented on my eyes for being a really dark and bold blue.

It is possible for parents who both have one eye colour to give birth to a child with a completely different eye colour, so your situation isn't anything to be alarmed about.

I've got Blue eyes, but then so do both my parents.

His father is a Teddy Bear and you find his Eyes odd? :uhoh:

Whilst this might not be my place to say (and I apologise if that is the case) it would seem to be that your mother might by lying, and that your first Dad is actually your Dad. If your Mum has a new guy in her life, it's highly plausible that she wants this new guy to take over the father role; especially if your other Dad isn't on the scene anymore.
