A-well-a everybody's heard about the bird
B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word
If I were you I'd forward it to actually MTV reps. Either way you'll find out if it's legit (which I doubt) or fraud, in which case MTV may want to pursue legal action against them. They have the money and power to do it.
Good idea, fry them scammer butts!!!

Forward the youtube account details to MTV. If legit, I'm sure MTV would corroborate the details.
Or
Ask them (the potential scammer) for some other type of contact, email address, phone no. etc... THEN pass this on to MTV for corroboration...
We'll probably do that next.

I just used Corroborate for the first time ever online...
What is this "Corroborate" you speak of? Is it like a whois?
I tried whois, then I realized its only for websites, not emails. Go me.
You mean the word?? LOL

That was my feeling, but I couldn't convince my friend of that, in infinitesimally small chance that it might be legit.

Me neither.
Maybe they have a number we can call somewhere.
BTW, my friend apparently got an attachment supposedly with a form in it.
Of course, I'm weary of attachments, but the virus scanner on his email said there was no threat, tho virus scanners can be wrong, and he is using AOL.

Oh, its an attachment, so we haven't opened it yet.
I was going to try to opening it in a Virtual Machine with VMPlayer but I don't know if viruses picked up in VM's can be transfered to the host machine?
EDIT: Tho its not the attachment itself, this should help some:

Being that direct about asking where you want the payment sent sounds to me like they're crossing their fingers to get into your bank account and steal every cent you've got.
