Well, basically it's splitting the tongue. Ever considered doing it and what are your thoughts? There's a chance (or rather, most likely) that you'll lose your taste partially. I've considered it myself for quite a while now, but in the end, I'm not sure whether to do it or not. Most of my friends say to let it be and not do it, but well, don't know.
Wouldn't that have an impact on the way you speek? With air going between the two parts of the tongue you might be hissing a bit.
I don't think it is worth it if there is a risk that you'll lose taste. Besides, that looks like a permanent modification and from some age on it'll just look silly.
I would also be worried what kind of effect this has on job opportunities. If you think about a job that involves talking to people you might want to leave your tongue as it is.
Frankly, making out with a snake is not high on my priority list. With piercings, you can remove the metal and they should eventually heal. How do you "undo" a bifurcation?
I believe there will be trouble if the wound is fresh still, but I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it, just like dental braces. Surely there could be a matter of hissing, but that wouldn't be much of a problem, I hope. I'm not doing any job which involves a lot of communication (such as servicedesk).
And actually, the process is reversible, (through surgical means), should the person reconsider at a later age. But from what I read, the process of reversing all of it is a lot more painful than the actual splitting.
That's... Really hot. I'm digging it, but I wouldn't do it to myself. If it was just a cosmetic thing, I would certainly consider doing this, though I can imagine it being a lot more appealing on females than men... But the effect it would no doubt have on speech, and the taste thing just make it a no-no for me.
now why the hell would you split a perfectly good tongue, especially if it can affect your ability to taste.
now im not saying anything but the only guy I've seen with it was someone in a freak show/haunted house and he was tattooed head to foot to look like a lizard and had implants to make his eyes more scaly.
I consider it to be one of the those things which is really really rad while you're young, but comes the haunt you when you're a bit older.
And it has the added problem that it is probably very hard to rectify.
Uhuh, a plit tongue looks rather silly, weird if not creapy... I also can't imagen it being comfortable or fun (not for long anyway) and the health issues it may bring are an additional reason why I'd say "hell no".
Too each his own I guess, but personally I find a tongue piercing going too far already. Call me old fashioned but the only piercing I can (really) appreciate is the classic earring.
