Tongue Bifurcation

Well, basically it's splitting the tongue. Ever considered doing it and what are your thoughts? There's a chance (or rather, most likely) that you'll lose your taste partially. I've considered it myself for quite a while now, but in the end, I'm not sure whether to do it or not. Most of my friends say to let it be and not do it, but well, don't know.

Here's a cute girl who has the same. =p

That's just weird.

I'm all in favor of body modification, tattoos and piercings and what not...but this is just a bit over the top, even for me.

Re: Tongue Bifurcation

Wouldn't that have an impact on the way you speek? With air going between the two parts of the tongue you might be hissing a bit.

I don't think it is worth it if there is a risk that you'll lose taste. Besides, that looks like a permanent modification and from some age on it'll just look silly.

I would also be worried what kind of effect this has on job opportunities. If you think about a job that involves talking to people you might want to leave your tongue as it is.

Re: Tongue Bifurcation

Frankly, making out with a snake is not high on my priority list. With piercings, you can remove the metal and they should eventually heal. How do you "undo" a bifurcation?

Re: Tongue Bifurcation

I believe there will be trouble if the wound is fresh still, but I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it, just like dental braces. Surely there could be a matter of hissing, but that wouldn't be much of a problem, I hope. I'm not doing any job which involves a lot of communication (such as servicedesk).

And actually, the process is reversible, (through surgical means), should the person reconsider at a later age. But from what I read, the process of reversing all of it is a lot more painful than the actual splitting.

That's... Really hot. I'm digging it, but I wouldn't do it to myself. If it was just a cosmetic thing, I would certainly consider doing this, though I can imagine it being a lot more appealing on females than men... But the effect it would no doubt have on speech, and the taste thing just make it a no-no for me.

Re: Tongue Bifurcation

now why the hell would you split a perfectly good tongue, especially if it can affect your ability to taste.

now im not saying anything but the only guy I've seen with it was someone in a freak show/haunted house and he was tattooed head to foot to look like a lizard and had implants to make his eyes more scaly.

...just saying

I consider it to be one of the those things which is really really rad while you're young, but comes the haunt you when you're a bit older.
And it has the added problem that it is probably very hard to rectify.

Re: Tongue Bifurcation

Uhuh, a plit tongue looks rather silly, weird if not creapy... I also can't imagen it being comfortable or fun (not for long anyway) and the health issues it may bring are an additional reason why I'd say "hell no".

Too each his own I guess, but personally I find a tongue piercing going too far already. Call me old fashioned but the only piercing I can (really) appreciate is the classic earring.

I would never do it. Why would anyone do it? Just something they think would look cool?

Yeah it would look better on females than man. What taste thing by the way...

I like to think it gives "new skills" to the art of tongue. =p

To the topic : Based on the pain alone, I wouldn't recommend it, cosmetic-wise or otherwise.

Surely there are teenagers who do it simply because they think 'it looks cool'. I think it's rather something that would feel more comfortable (not in a literal sense, but who knows).

The pain is only temporary. Most pain is. ;)

The fuck?

You're talking about destroying or severely damaging one of your senses for a cosmetic adaptation. I mean have you considered what will happen if you don't enjoy the taste of food anymore?

Have you by any chance gone insane lately? If you don't care about damaging one of your senses, why not imagine the effect on your social life?

To be completely honest the first video might have disgusted me more than anything I've seen before.

Here are my thoughts on this summed up in one sentence.

"If your bifurcate your tongue, you're a dumbass."

Most pain is, but just because you're adventurous doesn't mean you should suffer for it? I think this is a hundred times more painful than piercing (unless you're piercing your tongue or PEN).

Its like asking your friend to slash open a 2 inch deep scar on your chest so you can look cool. It hurts like fuck, and I'm sure you don't want that to happen. I'm all for looking better/cooler/more appealing, but not if you have to hurt for it. Not a big fan of masochism see.

The Kaiser.

Not attractive to me but I'm pretty vanilla in that I don't find tattoos, piercings, etc. very interesting.

Yes, I've considered that. However, I've done a little bit more research and it seems that you'll lose taste when you try to repair/reverse the initial procedure. You won't if not, and not to mention, they won't -cut out- a piece of meat; you won't lose a part of your tongue. But as said, that's what I read.

The ones I'd call insane would be those who wish to destroy their body by doing heavy body suspension, implants and more. Surely it sounds/looks weird to see such a tongue, but that does not mean one has become insane.

That's a horrible comparison. Slashing into the chest is clearly not to be compared to the tongue. The pain of such is drastically different. And I agree, I don't want to suffer pain just to look cool or anything of the such. But I never said that was my intention.

She's naughty as hell indeed. As one said on YouTube: 'I dare to bet she gives good head'. ;)

Gotta agree. I don't dig the body modification. Though a good scar can make you look like a right badass. More likely you'll get a bad scar though.

I bet she does, but kissing might be a bit more tricky though.
