I would agree with those that say FileFront isn't half as busy as it once was. I remember when I joined, there was a lot more going on than there is now. I think also, that whilst FileFront has many members (215,354) a good 60% of them are no longer with us.

When scrubs went to ABC they cut half the funny jokes because the funny ones were not PG and ABC is owned by Disney. The ending episode was good tho.

Is it me? Did I drive them all away?

But yea I remember every time I came on, new posts EVERYWHERE. Now, some forums havent had posts in weeks, if not months. I think the April incident really hurt us.

Ziff Davis running the place into the ground and then, ahem, "closing" it probably didn't do any favours.

It's borked. I've been staff at Strategy Informer, i've some stats, not going to tell anything, but they are increasing every year. According to google, we're in a downfall. Right..

Thing is, the numbers start going down in '07, so something happened at or around that time when everything started to go downhill. From what I remember, '07 wasn't a great year either. There was a lot of changes being made (ex. "Personal opinions are not endorsed by FileFront"), the forum skins all died, and I remember a lot of people leaving for one reason or another, including myself from the mod team and then coming here less after that.

But, I think the reason things are going down is because, let's face it, most of the games that are on the network sites are old. They might have been in full swing in 2003-2005, but two years after that, we had the 360, the PS3, the Wii, and now certain games are just at a standstill with modding. I know that Bridge Commander, which had a very active modding community, is pretty much dead now with all of the modders either leaving or working on new projects. Not sure how it is on any other site, but I think if another major game comes out (Star Trek Online, Starcraft 2) and the modding community picks up, the numbers might increase.

Unless I am mistaken that was the Ziff Davis era.
But as has been said a few times - the main reason most of the network sites are outdated, and have so few new games, is due to them being pretty much ignored during the reign of the corporate giant. Notice that we've got about 6 or so network sites coming online soonish etc.

The skins were awesome. We also had the store, the arcade a while after that, and other things that got closed because people started abusing them. The Melee got closed, and IIRC didn't something happen with the babe forum for awhile? It also just seemed a lot more relaxed in general with people not taking everything so seriously.

The way it looks to me are that the only sites that are still fairly active are the Star Trek and Star Wars games.
