(CNN) -- A six-month-old baby had a miraculous escape after his stroller rolled off a railway station platform and into the path of an incoming train.

The incident, which happened Thursday at Ashburton railway station in Melbourne, Australia, was captured by CCTV.

The footage shows the baby's mother momentarily letting go of the stroller, which then rolls over the edge of the platform. Second later, a train pulls in to the station.

The stroller and baby were dragged 30 meters (33 yards) further up the track before the train came to a halt.

John Rees, a spokesman for train operator Connex, told Australia's Channel 7 television station: "It's a miracle this baby wasn't killed. The baby managed to escape with just a cut to the forehead, I'm told. It's a complete miracle."

The baby boy was quickly reunited with his distraught mother. He was taken to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital but was later discharged.

Channel 7 said the incident came just a day after the launch of a public awareness campaign warning of the dangers of strollers on platforms.

I think the bad part about it is the people standing around it (including the mom) are like 2 seconds too slow to do anything. Don't you think if the stroller is rolling away from the platform you should try to grab it before it rolls off? I mean, I know it's not your kid, but still, you don't just stand there, wait, and then say - "Hey Sarah, you know your kid is just about to roll off the platform, right?"

Slow reactions by everyone there, just amazing the kid even survived.

I like the way when it goes under everyone draws back from the mother kinda like,
"Whistle and walk away folks."

Looks like the station is kind of lopsided. Things with wheels don't just roll away on a flat surface for no reason.

There is not a great distance between the mother and the edge of the platform. That kind of thing could happen to any of you people and I'm sure you'd love being labeled as the worst parent ever for an easily-made mistake. As BadHairDay said, things don't roll away for no reason. The mother had no reason to expect the pram would randomly roll onto the tracks.
