What's your favorite fast food restaurant?

Hands down, I have to say mine is In'n'Out! :bows:

Love their sauce they put on their burgers.

Double double, animal style fries, and a shake. It's like hot lubed up sex with Jessica Alba, but in food form.

Yeah, that's not bad on occasion either, better than the fry gigs. I do like Quizno's also, but they tend to be a little more spendie.

Chipotle is my all time favorite, although they've been price gouging something fierce lately; the burrito I get, which used to be $6.50 is now $8.75.

Sonic drive-ins are excellent as well, along with Taco Bell (89 cent burritos, even I can afford that!), Burger King, and Wendy's (can't argue with fries dipped in a chocolate frosty)

McDonald's owns Chipotle. They have to make up profit somewhere since food sales at the Arches is down in order to compete with places that actually make real food.

Chicago-style win since 1963.

I haven't had fast food in years, but I'd probably have to go with either Wendy's (Haven't had it in over ten years though) or Kelly's Roast Beef. They make a pretty good hot dog.

Probably Paneria. It's more like a chain of bakeries, but the quesadillas they make are made of pure win and taste :)
Plus considering you can see the things before they put them into the griller you know it's all fresh

I like Submarina more than Subway. I dunno if they have Submarina anywhere outside Southern California though cause it was a family owned business started by my mom's friend's parents. It's like Subway, but a bit more variety and fresher ingredients.

I'm going to In'n'Out tonight with my baseball team after our game! :P

Btw: I can't not stand Burger King. -.-

Re: Favorite fast food

Its impossible to have a favorite.....for anyone
---if i would have to pick one though, it would be In n Out only because I drove 8 hours to Reno for it

Burger King - Decent Burgers, Big fries in small package, not very good
McDonalds - Fries are the best part, more expensive nowadays, BRING BACK THE 29cent HAMBURGERS AND THE 39cent CHEESEBURGERS!!!!
Wendys - Exellent Nuggets, Baconator (what else to say), average priced
Jack n the Box - Good food all around, open 24 hours, a little more expensive, hit or miss, if you go to a good one, amaIng, if you find a bad one, worst food ever
Taco Bell - Delicious, cheap, open late...and uhhhh Baja Blast??? case closed
Taco Time - a little better than taco bell, a little more expensive
Little Caesars - Anyone got $5??? (recommened crazy crust)
Panda Express - BEst American Asian food out there (hint: on the back of reciepts, just wright 5 numbers like 59762 and you get a free entree)
White Castle - One word: DONT GO!!!!, I drove past one on the bus on my way to Basic Training, I sat in a Hell Hole for 4 months untill I had it, top 2 Worst burgers Ive ever had in my life
Carls Jr.(for west coast) - Big delicious burgers, one of the most expensive
Hardy's (for east coast) - See Carls Jr. Its the same thing
Arby's - Never cared for, theres better places
Subway - 5 dolla footloooong, good sandwhiches
Quiznos - a little better than subway, but more expensive

Re: Favorite fast food

Can't really say I go to fastfood joints unless it's the only last resort really, basically, rarely.

Speaking of which, what's up with the public post mix (soda machine) at Subway. I went there once, in NZ (with Masked Marsoe), I ordered some stickbread and a cola. I got an empty cup and could fill after I payed, a bit away from the whole counter setup. Are you allowed to refill? As it's kinda hard to check who's using the postmix not? And why would the place it "in the open"? However there wasn't any sign regarding it. Not on the postmix machine, not on the walls, not on small carton/plastic table advertising thingies...

If I do eat fastfood it's likely to be at any given shoarma/dönner-kebab place, which usually don't belong to any branch. A nice dönner-kebab with garlic sauce is quite nice. :nodding:

Besides, the only fastfood chains that I can think of (of any significant size) are:
- Mc Don
- Burger King
- Dominos pizza
- Pizza hut
- Subway (since a couple of years)
- Do we have a KFC in NL? dunno... maybe...
As you see I'm not really familiar with other fast food chains (only heard about them through these forums), and as far as I know we don't have most of the chains mentioned througout this thread here in NL.

It's the (official) name for those machines that dispense variou's soda's. You hold a cup/glas under it and you fill it with a soda.
I'm not sure what else to call it, I always called it postmix machines, I worked in a restaurant (as a waiter/bartender) and us staff always referred to it as a postmix (machine).

It is a major source of profit regarding drinks. Often (all the time? =p) restaurants sell their glasses of a given soda for the same price you buy the same amount of the same soda in a bottle (at a difference place). Or the difference is neglectable even though bottles soda (33 cl) has a higher cost then postmx drinks. POstmix drinks are, as the name implies, a mix of a soda syrup with (filtered and cooled) tab water and CO2. Costs are pretty damn low (a few cents If I recall correctly) for a glass of soda, which is sold for like 2.00-3:00 euro's and over.

If it's not behind the counter you can get free refills. Actually even if it is behind the counter you can often get free refills.

I like to mix various drinks at them. =p

I can't say for certain what my favorite fast food joint is but I can narrow it down to Burger King, Chick-Fil-A, and Taco Bell.

A text stating such, anywhere, would be nice. BUt I guess they don't so that not too many people actually go about refilling their drink.

I thought "Hmm, the postmix isn't behind the counter, but next to it. I could perhaps refill it without being spotted, but it would be kinda rude. I have no way of telling if I am or am not allowed to refill it... this would be the first time I saw a place were you can actually refill your cup and it being uncommon I'd expect a notification of some sort..." , I then proceeded to ask Masked Marsoe, he didn't know either. I then wondered "But if you can refil your cup, why do they offer various cup sizes? You could go for a small cola and refill it three times or so to get the same a large cola for the same price... so there definately need to be a sign of some sort not?" I wasn't that thirsty so I didn't bother walking to the counter (postmix) to refill the cup.

Free refills are pretty damn rare here, infact I have never seen any free refill thingy. Unless you count in "all you can eat" food offers ("unlimited spareribs" and such).

Ah, typically I've heard of people call it a soda fountain or dispenser.

As for myself, I rarely eat out, but when I do I try to go to more locally owned joints or small chains.

-Charo's Chicken
-Firehouse Subs
-Scotty P's
-Freebirds
-Jimmy Johns

But I can't avoid the large ones when I am on a long trip or really hungry.

-Subway
-Wing Stop
-Chick fil-a
-McDonalds
-Wendy's

Well I know in the U.S. it's universally acknowledged that if the drink station accessible, you can get free refills which is why they never bother saying so anywhere. Actually, almost all restaurants, even nice sit down places, have free refills.

Mastershroom September 30th, 2009 03:49 PM

Re: Favorite fast food

Yep. For soda fountain drinks, it's pretty rare to not have free refills. At fast food places, the fountain is usually in the dining room rather than behind the counter, so customers can fill up as they please. Mixing drinks is rather fun as well. Sprite and Dr. Pepper make an interesting combination. :)

At sit-down places, when you order a glass of Coke or any other fountain drink, your waiter or waitress will usually bring you another glass when yours is empty.

I used to work at Chipotle, and those soda syrup packages ("bag in a box", we call them, since it's basically a pouch of syrup in a sturdy cardboard box with a nozzle attached for instant connection to the carbonated water for the fountain) are dirt cheap.

Admiral Donutz September 30th, 2009 04:01 PM

Re: Favorite fast food

But in a place were there is no culture of "free refills" like Europe, and I guess, down under, I'd kind of expect a notification as most people, due to not being aware of any 'refill' culture what so ever, wouldn't be able to know.

I think I only ever learned about refills via these forums...

The only free drink I'm used to is tap water (glass or 1 liter jar/can) and some ice. Though some places even charge for that (too which, I as a former waiter/barender would object if it wasn't mentioned on the menu).

The same goes to anything that is presented to you, let's say if they place some stickbread on your table (as a starter), if it's simply placed on your table you can assume it's free or refuse to pay for it as they didn't mention it would cost you. But then I don't recall ever being given "free starters" or "free starters trap that aren't that free afterall", but I heard about it though (restaurant places some stickbread and herbs/garlic butter before you, you eat it, assume it's free and find it on the bill... ).

I googled a bit and apparantly the Subway here used to have free refills in most locations including the city that live nearby to (Leiden) but they stopped doing this as it was costed them too much (it was abused). If something is "free" we Dutchies are known to take advantage of it... I'd have to go and have a look, never set foot in a DUtch Subway in my life. I wonder if they (still) would have refills, if there would be some notification about it. There ain't anything concerning refills on the website... or wikipedia... so there isn't any way of knowing about this unless you just do... :uhm:

I like a good Subway sandwich, and you cant beat a carne asada burrito from the corner taco shop. Got those everywhere in SoCal. Burrito is so damn good, just dont ever look inside the place.

Taco Bell is good too. And every now and then, some Panda Express.

When you boil it all down, every other place is seriously lacking in the non-greasy food department. Although Chick-Fil-A has some pretty rockin' nuggets and waffle fries.

Five Guys is good as well and the food came pretty quick, so it's sort of fast food. No In n' Out in FL either.

Well Europe had been making chips for a long time, Americans found out about them during the war in Belgium I believe (mainly anyway) and you guys named them french fries for some reason.

British chips are different, they are a lot thicker with more potatoe.
