Burglar checks facebook, forgets to log off

You guys might have seen this elsewhere, but I thought I would share it with you.

Burglar Checks Facebook During Raid, Gets Busted - PC World

Quote:

"OMG LOLZ brkin into sum1s house!"

That might've been the Facebook status update left by Jonathan G. Parker, 19, as he was inside the Martinsburg, West Virginia house he was robbing. Yes, you read that right. Parker was inside the house, checked his Facebook profile, and left his account open on the victim's computer before fleeing. He was wicked hard to catch.

Parker entered through a bedroom window and ransacked two diamond rings worth more than $3500. The victim's computer was in the same room as the rings, so maybe after he was through Googling "best escape routes," Parker bopped onto his Facebook page. The victim also noticed that she and Parker had a mutual friend who later confessed to assisting with the crime.

I understand that Facebook is magically delicious, total HTML crack, but c'mon--you can wait until you get home to see if your Boston friend is making dumplings for dinner again or your Philly pal is watching movies with her cat. Now Parker faces between one and ten years in prison. That's a long time to go without the glowing allure of Facebook.
Original Article

Anyways, this is true. There are plenty of stories about burglars calling from the house they are robbing, leaving their IDs lying around, and so on, but it has moved up into the next generation.

HAHA! This is almost as idiotic as the stupid douche who broke into the house down the street a couple of years ago. Of all the houses to break into this idiot chose the house with hunting/gun ownership stickers plastered all over the back of his truck and one big "NRA Member" sticker to boot. Guy that broke into the house, first riffled though this truck then broke into the house only to get shot in the face with buckshot (guess that's what you get for not learning English, otherwise he probably would have sacked the house next to it with the Prius in the driveway).

He should have taken the computer with him while he was at it. I have yet to understand the huge attraction of Facebook to people, let alone comprehend how some people become so addicted to it. He should enter an insanity plea.

How come the people from the show Masterminds never come forth and get there own story? Instead the idiots get there own story, I mean the people from that show know what they are doing, half of them were only caught because the law got lucky, and they were good at not leaving any trace at all, hell people like the James Bond gang even had a plan for a getaway if they were chased by the cops.

I love stupid criminals. People who write ransom notes on bank balance atm reciepts, tellers asking for ID from the bank robber, this guy checking his facebook? WHy would you do that? what a jackass....

I've read it and laughed, what a bloody idiot. Isn't the first rule of a criminal act to get in & out ASAP?

Be quick (time) & try not to get noticed (leave no trail). The two basic principles.
Logging in on a computer during a burglary means you risk:
- Having the house occupant walk in on you (time)
- Leave evidence (trail)

You can have really stupid thieves or really cunning ones. Typically these two types provides most of our stories, humor and an interesting one respectively.

Knowing how stupid our legal system is and how with enough money, you are innocent of anything.

Are you sure you are 19? For a 19 year old, you really dont get alot of the sexual innuendo around here. Like when I asked if Emma Watson used her wand for personal purposes. Who wouldnt get that?

Or maybe you are just too mature for these forums.

*And I know you just laughed...with a hint of nervousness*
*I know you just looked at your nearest window*
*I know you went over to the window and looked outside, just to check*
*I know you just sat back down, thinking...no, hoping...that I am joking*

Thats right. I am in your mind.......
