True…but I give power to mine…and forsake all others.

Oh, guess I should explain that one. Represents the Registered and Unregistered Native American Councils and/or Nations of the United States.

This is the Shasta Indian Nation flag for the greater Klamath/Shasta Indian's of which I hail...aside from my Irish and French roots on my dad's side.

To be fair, at the time the flag only had the English and Scottish Crosses on it, it really looked like this for both the British East India Company and George Washington's Army:

Heh, damn them lazy bastards. ;)

Nah, it makes sense. Usually when people draw up a flag it has to be something people can relate to and recongize. If they'd have drawn up something "random" people would have had a lot harder time recognising what it stands for and thus accepting it.

Well maybe it works in dictatorships, you'd know who the new boss in town is..

Yes the look a like, but I remember it has something to do with the monarchies of the "low countries" (when The Netherlands and Belium formed one "country", Luxemburg belonged to the Netherlands aswell).

*Googles*

Luxemburg became independant from the Netherlands in 1890 because their was no male heir to the throne. Their flag is not based on the Dutch flag however but on the coat of arms of the country.

The flag for the BeNeLux (Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg aka the low countries though techincally that's only Belgium plus Netherlands) also looks simular:

Source "list of flags based on the Dutch flag":
Lijst van vlaggen gebaseerd op de Nederlandse vlag - Wikipedia

English wikipedia on the Netherlands:
"
In 1815, the Congress of Vienna formed the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, by expanding the Netherlands with Belgium in order to create a strong country on the northern border of France. In addition, William became hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The Congress of Vienna gave Luxembourg to William as personal property in exchange for his German possessions, Nassau-Dillenburg, Siegen, Hadamar and Diez.

Belgium rebelled and gained independence in 1830, while the personal union between Luxembourg and the Netherlands was severed in 1890, when King William III of the Netherlands died with no surviving male heirs. Ascendancy laws prevented his daughter Queen Wilhelmina from becoming the next Grand Duchess. Therefore the throne of Luxembourg passed over from the House of Orange-Nassau to the House of Nassau-Weilburg, another branch of the House of Nassau." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands

Edit: I find it rather funny though, don't you Americans sing (national anthem? my mind is rather fuzzy atm) or say something about the red, white and blue? It always reminds me of our flag. =p

Edit2: The flag of South Africa untill 1994 and the present one both clearly show Dutch influence:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...rapeau_afs.jpg

^ The top banner is orange since the Dutch flag used to be orange (well technically that flag was not the Dutch flag but the "prince flag" which was adopted as the official flag for the "Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden" or the "Republic of seven united Netherlands" ), it then turned red for some reason. But only just before the second world war, 1937, was it made defentive by the Queen (Wilhemina), that the colour should be red and not orange.

http://www.erate.co.za/images/SA%20Flag.gif

Edit: Made "Republic of Seven United Netherlands" bold, 'cause it sounds funny. Today it's just "The (Royal Kingdom of) The Netherlands".
