I really hate Blue and Green together when they don't have a lighter color to balance it out, it makes me feel yucky inside.

Depends on which era.

The Ottoman Empire was very powerful at one point, but then it declined and stated lose more and more land to the likes of Russia and other European Powers.

Still, a 600 year empire is not an easy feat to accomplish.

Prettiest: Confederate States of America. No, I'm not a southern redneck hillbilly lost cause KKK member. It's the best flag I've ever seen.

That's the Army flag. Their national flag is different but just as good I think.
