There are plenty of underage kids here playing M-rated games, no one has a problem with that. |
Liability sure, that could be waived, however it's the reputation and parental viewpoint we need to really consider. The legal ramifications may not be there but a parent stating you can't visit said site or be punished is entirely another. Besides, I don't want people coming here for porn, I want them coming here for game related conversations or other topics we currently have. The babe forum exists because of the demand for one and the no nudity rule is enforced, also because who doesn't like to look at attractive women or men? (if they appeal to you, not everyone likes women)

If we really wanted an 18+ Babe Forum, then we could just have people use MSN or something to message admins an image of an ID. At the least, it'd require anyone wanting to trick the system have some decent photoshop skills. |
If such a forum were to exist it would most certainly be protected by password and specific permissions. Even that's not foolproof. Honesly, why do you guys want a porn forum so bad? Use google images like everyone else.

This is more related ot the Gaming part of Gaming Forums, but extra fields on the profile page for the platforms you own. Minor suggestion. |
He relocated to Utah where they're a bit more 'special' with this sort of topic. He's still disbarred but playing himself off as a consultant or something of that nature. Basically he's too much of a prick to leave it alone even after being defeated every single time he's tried to fight it.

That couldn't be done by adding a line in your signature? Probably more effective too for those that are wondering where you are.

I do however, believe we should have a forum that allows people to say what they want, how they want, without having to worry about what they can and cannot say, nor would they have to worry about what others think. Obviously we'd have to have a few guys in there to enforce the rules, and make sure things don't get too personal, but for general purposes.
IE: If someone wanted to be adament about Aliens / God / the Loch Ness Monster being true or false, they could go to this forum (maybe we could do with renaming it), they could say exactly what they wished, without having to worry about hurting anyone elses' feelings. |
The pub doesn't cover about 95% of that? You're allowed to speak your mind and conversations there do get heated from time to time, but I think the staff there do a good job to make sure it doesn't explode into something more volitile. I always considered that forum the place to go to discuss such things.

Suggestion #2:
Repetition, I think it should be made public to each and every user, who is giving them good and bad rep. I know we may end up with a fair amount of 'revenge rep' from this, and on that note, I think we could maybe have a certain Moderator / Super Moderator who would look into all cases.
If a user feels they've been revenge repped, they'd PM said Moderator, and they'd sort the issue out. I really don't think there is any need for the "oh we can't display peoples names on the rep system case they get repped back". Members should be mature enough not to do that, anyone who does, gets a quiet word with one of you boss guys.
I don't think we should remove it, it is a nice thing to have.
I also wonder whether someone could rename some of the repetition wording. Make it more professional? - more of a minor nitpick there...
|
We tried that, it just turned into a revenge repping fest. People just went down their list and gave negative reputation to anyone that gave it to them. It became far too much of a chore to police this specific area of the forums.

Some new skins. We've got two at the moment. I remember when I joined, there were several to choose from. It would be nice to have a few more to select from.
|
We only have two at the moment because there should only be one. The only reason you see a second is because I just messed with the css and uploaded individual images. When ZD was around no one had access to the FTP to upload the directories of images or files needed for new styles. Also, when we had that vast selection it was far too much work to manage. Each one had edited templates that the others didn't with various different placements of code, etc.. Adding new things was a gamble that could crash the forums. Hell,
fixing issues became a gamble that something else would break. So we removed all but the main style for the ease of being able to manage it without much effort. Any new styles you see will be few in number with color variations of each one. FileFront 0.5 is simply a reskin of the default style that you see when you first register.

Suggestion #4:
A 'Science and Technology' Forum. I know we've got the Tech Discussion, but to be honest, that is pretty much used for Computer related Tech stuff. I'm also aware we have the GD and Pub, but I think Science and Technology deserves its own section. Discussion about what medicine and technology hold for the future etc.
|
Perhaps. That's not a bad idea for a subforum for the tech discussion forums area. I'll put some thought into it and discuss it further to see if others agree.

Suggestion #5:
I can't say I've seen much about it here, nor do I know how well it would do. But is there a chance we could get two more sub-forums in the Entertainment section?
The first would be WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) - or maybe just general Wrestling, as WWE isn't the only one around. The second, would be something I know we already have, but a Warhammer Table Top Discussion. Just my personal view, but I'd have thought that best suited in the Entertainment or Gaming sections. Sure, it fits with Dawn of War, but if there were ever another Warhammer game, why send people to the DoW forums?
...and I think that is me done. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to stop by again. Until then, I await your reply. |
Wrastlin'?

I haven't seen much general discussion about a wrestling forum to merit the creation of it. We usually create the forums when we see enough threads that merit its existence.
As for warhammer tabletop.. those guys scare me the crap out of me. I haven't seen much discussion about it, but I'm fully aware as to how fanatical they can be when it comes to talking about it. It's another forum I'll discuss with others and see if it would be worthwhile.

Would bring the Trek community together a little more if nothing else. |
It wouldn't be a bad idea at all, however those forums are currently tied into their respective network sites. This is a good idea though, so don't feel that I'm shrugging it off, just give it time to see where things go. we may go that route at some point down the road (All: I'm not confirming anything, don't read into that as some hint to something)
