Do you hold a grudge against FileFront?

Then don't.

I've been lurking about different forums and see the same thing pop up over and over again "I can't go back to FF, not after what they put me through", and it just... Well it grinds my gears.

The situation so far is as follows: Last year, Ziff Davis filed for bankruptcy, and the Network has slowly seen a decline in traffic. Just last week, Ziff Davis Media decided to pull the plug on both the Files Network and Gaming Forums, the latter going first and without any warning. As announcments were finally put up on the Network, many of the forum regulars retreated to other places, eagerly awaiting some word on the situation from people who know what is going on.

A few days into the whole debacle, Jeff "n0e" Mills (who mind you, was laid off in the process) finally managed to get some official word on the situation and asked everybody to stay vigilant. A master plan was brewing, while many of us were busy backing up as many files as possible from the network.

March 30th, n0e teamed up with StrategyInformer in order to launch the spiritual sucessor of Gaming Forums, and the Files Network. Within the first five hours of launch, the forum saw an incredible flood of FileFront refugees. Old staff was brought back, and spam threads resurected.

March 31st, A thread is posted on StrategyInformer hotlinking to the forums. Although the main page does not work, everybody has access to the "General Chit-Chat" section. Within minutes, confusion and spamming begin.
Jeff "n0e" Mills brings the first official word on the forums. Although he himself knows little, the forums are supposed to come back.

April 1st, The official announcement is made. FileFront has been purchased from Ziff Davis by some of it's original owners. The two entities are now completely separate, and the lookout is positive. The goal: Bring GF back to it's pre-corporate days.

On the brink of destruction, FileFront has been saved in the last minute by people who legitimately care for the community and had nothing to do with it's closure. All complaints and revenge notes should be directed towards Ziff Davis Media - Ziff Davis Publishing - Corporate Information

tl;dr: Not a joke, Bat people out, good people in.

Anyone that still holds a grudge probably didn't like the site in the first place. As stated by the others; Brilliant post!

It's Ziff Davis' fault, not the network's.

Long live FileFront!

Completely understandable. Though a bit fragmented and hurt, FF will live on.

No grudges at all, but bringing the forum back on April 1st of all days was obviously going to make people think it was a joke so an angry reaction is par for the course.

Re: Do you hold a grudge against FileFront?

No reason to hold a grudge against Filefront. I'm glad the site and forums are maintained, and that "incident" even made me consider the idea of "upgrading" my account. Just can't find where that option is now oO ... anyone know what I'm talking about ? There is (or was once ?) an option you had to pay for so you didn't see the advertisements. Been using adblock so far, but if the site actually is in need of money, I'd be willing to help.
