copyright on youtube videos well, there are 3 popular series on youtube copyrighted by Mohammed Pabel Miah, some guy that doesn't even make the series, or having anything to do with it. How could somebody copyright something that isn't even theirs? Suddenly after a few days, the series ''Arby 'n' Chief'' and ''how to be Emo'' and ''How to be Ganster'' were 'unavailble' due to copyright claim of Mohammed Pabel Miah. So, my question is: how can the origanal maker undo (or get the copyrights or w/e to get it back on youtube) this copyright? see here: YouTube - DigitalPh33r's Channel |
Re: copyright on youtube videos I guess you have to declare it to some official institution before you publish them or something, like you'd do with a book or other. For example in France you'd probably contact the SACEM for such a thing, though I don't know for sure who to contact for video content... |
Re: copyright on youtube videos The person in question probably used the DMCA in which case you'd have to file a counter notice under 17 USC 512(g)(3) unfourtunately youtube is extremely tardy in responding to this sort of thing and IIRC you have to give up a great deal of your real personal information which gets passed on to the person who filled the DMCA. Realistically speaking there's probably no recourse for you. |
Re: copyright on youtube videos how is Arby 'n' the Chief copyrighted by some Dude that didn't even make Arby 'n' the Chief |
Re: copyright on youtube videos It's funny. IGN put a copyright claim on the Halo 3: ODST trailer by BUNGIE. YouTube is a dictatorship. And a free-for-all. There's no rules, and you're lucky if you escape the grip of the copyright holders. |

Re: copyright on youtube videos true I guess but I still found the vids on other sites... |
Re: copyright on youtube videos What does that have to do with anything? You make a DMCA complaint regarding specific articles. It's not like your invoking some magical will of god that's going to make it vanish from everywhere. |
Re: copyright on youtube videos this is why i dont like youtube that much and is trying to find a solution. i've already had 2 videos taken down do to music copyright claims. its rather strange i gave the artists the credit, wasnt distributing it... |

Re: copyright on youtube videos strange cause their are loads of people who post actual music videos, take footage off places like gamespot, etc. |
Re: copyright on youtube videos All of which is technically illegal. The question is really along the lines of whether the copyright holder notices and whether it's worth their time pursuing. |
Re: copyright on youtube videos thanks, it is not such a huge problem, because you can watch the episode on other websites andd even on youtube (from different users). but the problem is: how could Digitalph33r make vids if there copyrighted? |
Re: copyright on youtube videos I remember the early days of YouTube (before it was cool and everyone knew about it). So sweet. Could watch whole episodes of south park with no problem. Then companies came along and commercialized it. Now its hard to find anything on there. Music videos get taken down, old commercials taken down, everything. Thats why I have a youtube video downloader in my firefox browser. :) |
