The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... That's right, I'm going on a three month trip to Australia, leaving early december (7th) and returning on February 26th. Atleast that is the plan, I have reserved tickets but haven't payed for them yet. I'll talk with some close relatives what they think about my travel plans, which will involve traveling from NL (Amsterdam) via Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) -Six hour stop- to Sydney (Australia). On my return I'll only spent about three hours in Malaysia. Though I'm playing with the idea of spending a few days there (not sure yet, depends on what I can do in Kuala Lumpur, visa trouble -not needed?- and how much it will cost me extra). As for my schedule in Australia; I have non besides a vague plan to spent some time in Sidney, then traveling along the east coast up north and by then I'll figure out where to go next. It's a shame Scorpy doesn't frequent these forums anymore, I wouldn't mind to hunt him down...  I'll post some more later this weekend or on Monday (I'm supposed to close the deal on the tickets on Saturday or Monday so I'll use that time to verify if the airplane trip (route, times) are exactly how I want them to be). |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... good for you :) I asume you have finished your studies and want to explore the world a bit ? I hope to do the same when my day comes (still 2 years to go for me, but hey, atleast i'm this year over the half of my course, so I can start looking forward to a simmular experience) |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... I wouldn't leave North Europe even if a nuke was heading here. Good luck, anyways! |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Actually I failed my studies so I decided to do something different this year (and hopefully resuming college next year). :( |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... oooh sorry m8, I didn't knew that :( have a nice trip anyway |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Austria > Australia :p |

Oh and now I'm also thinking of goin back via Bangkok instead, a friend of the family can tour me around there. SO it's either the cheapest way back (Quala Lumpur, 2-3 hour stopover, deciding to spent a few days there or taking an other route back to spent a few days in Bangkok... ugh, I'll just have to go to the travel agent again to see what the extra costs would be. |

But I can say you will almost surely have oportunities in Bangkok...don't know about Malaysia though. |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Have you been to Bangkok? |

Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Hit me on MSN (doh you don't have that). Am I glad I don't have a girlfriend (never had though actually), why would she "forbid" such a thing? I wouldn't forbid my girl to travel anywhere if she'd say such a thing. :uhm: Unless it would conflict with an important item on my (our0 agenda such as an imprtant family meeting or something. Anyway, I went back to the travel agent, I got an alternative travelplan layed out to me: Traeling from Amsterdam via Frankfurt, via Bangkok to Melbourne and then back again (via Muchen). This would enable me to stay in Bangkok for 200 euros more (1650 instead of 1450). Or I could make a stopover at Quala Lumpur for about the same extra amount of money. The option for Bangkok for two days (three nights) sounds nice, might extend it but I have to talk with my guide there and if when she will be available (she is with us now here so discussing that will be easy =p ). And I might try to get a route from Amsterdam to Bangkok directly but then I'd have to shorten my trip to Australia from 3 months to ... perhaps 2,5 months. Late february is pretty filled up to leave Australia. :( My orginal plan would make me travel with Malaysian air (:naughty: ), the alernative with Thai air (guess those stewardesses would eb just as hawt) and if I'd try to fly from A'dam to bangkok I'd have to fly with CHina air (which also sounds good). =p |

Once my travel plans are all set I'll keep get in touch with you (email or scary text messages... ;) ) to see what the possibilities would be. |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... You should come over here also. :| |

I am considering to cross over for a week or so depending on: A) The costs (How much would it cost me at a minimumal without going for a long swim?) B) If I would be welcomed by anybody. On my own it wouldn't matter as much (also depending on part A, paying a few hundred dollars to see some different rocks while I wander around... I do have to weight a low budget against benefits you know). =p |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Depends. Pacific Blue or JetStar is probably cheapest, and you're probably looking around AUD$110+ (e55?) for mid-Feb flights one way out of Sydney. Otherwise, for early Feb (say, 5th to 9th) probably around NZ$380+ (e170+) return. For the record, I live in Christchurch, and reborn is in Palmerston North. Luckily, Wellington is in between both, and one of the few routes you can travel entirely by train (TranzCoastal from Chch to Picton, ferry across to Wellington, train to Palmy). I have nothing good to say about Auckland. |

I'd be most interest in taking a return ticket to NZ for a week or so. As with Commie, once my travel plans are 100% certain Ill be sure to let you know and I'd be nice if I could reach you while I am there (mail or phone) to see if we can set something up. |

I couldn't think of a suitable bit of text to use as a hyperlink, then I thought 'lol wikipedia' would be good because it reminds me of the people who nag on about Wikipedia not being a trustworthy resource. Also, to non-Australians, Australia basically is a non-civilized desert with kangaroos and Also, scary text messages = no problem. Had someone message me the other day saying "It's a boy!". Had me quite confused, so I replied "Dunno who you are, but congratulations". Never heard back from that person, but oh well :lookaround: |

Stupid summer season (tourists extra high prices and supply and demand logic... )! =p Quote:
Trip option 2 (Lufthansa/Tai Air) from A'dam via Frankfurt, via Bangkok to Melbourne return flight with 3 day stopover in bangkok on the way back: € 1650,- I'll go back to the travelagency this afternoon, going to see if I can fly with hina air a week later (since flight fromAussia to Bangkokk is all filled up Feb 28th=March4th) to see what an A'dam - Bangkok - Sidney/Melbourne (don't care where I land) flight will cost me. Just aslogn as it's cheap nd if I can make a stopover in Bangkok to get a tour there by a guide (friend) there. I am not rich so I need am trying to get the best pirce offer I can get. =p PS: A US trip would be next on the list, maybe in a year or so... I don't plan that far ahead and I don't know how empty my wallet will be when I get back... |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Update: I finally agreed on a nice travel plan. Which is as follows: I fly with China air from Amsterdam (December 9th) via Bankok, via Taipe to Sydney. I then spent 86 days there (probably the last week or 1-2 in NZ) , I fly back March 7th and spent a week in bankok were I am toured around through the city and country. I then arrive back in the Netherlands. :D |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Whatever you do, don't enter Burma. |

Speaking of entering terrirtory. Which other famous forumers do we have down under besides Commie, MaskedMarso and Rebornintheglory? Mr. Pedantic, Yannick (Blitzkrieg), Flodgy, ... maybe an FH-er or two which I do't know or recall about... |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Err... Might be me being a silly dyslexic but is your title a bit typo'd? :p. So you're off to see the convicts and gold? I hear the outback is wonderful and don't say that people from New Zealand and Aussies sound the same. You will not return. |
Re: The Netherlands will be save for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... The V should be an F yes but... meh. BUt just for you I'll change it. ;) I'm going to try that one, "All you people look and sound the same". =p |

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though... Damn, I forgot about the European way of writing calendar dates. I was thinking "September to July? Why can't I have such awesome holidays?" |
