At least visit the Gold Coast.

Ofcourse I'm going to visit Melbourne, I evne mentioned it on page 2. =p I don't have any concrete plan besides spending some time in Sydney first and then I'll decide wether to go up north along the east coast first or go to Melbourne first instead. Or the other way around. I don't know what I will or "should" do.

Why wouldn't I want to visit Melbourne? What would a trip be without visiting Australias major cities?

Hell, Scorpy lives in Melbourne so I have to go there... ;)

Meh. I hated te Papa, you had to pay for everything interesting inside. Parliament should be in recess while he's down under, shouldn't he? And the cablecars aren't that interesting. The only thing I'd say was notable about Wellington is the wind.

They should be back by mid-January.

If you haven't noticed, Wellington is the social, cultural, and more importantly, the political, capital of NZ.

What would he do in Auckland, take an armoured-car safari around Mangere?

That's true I guess.

He could also be mugged in the CBD, abused on the North Shore, or get wasted in Waitakere.

Mugged in the CBD? Come on, you can't pretend it doesn't make things exciting! And knowing Donutz, he'd probably like it and ask for more...

Heh, an oher time perhaps.

Anybody (anzac) knows some reliable sites to look for prices concerning photocameras and computer items? I think I could get some stuff cheaper there but I'd have to check to see what the price differemce for photocamera, memory cards, USB sticks and so on would be...

I feel sorry for my cousin's birthplace, they are screwed, with a capital S.

PS, Ive always wondered, Does Holland Love Canada?

Admiral Donutz November 30th, 2008 12:12 PM

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though...

It's "The (kingdom of) the Netherlands" you n00b. Technically Holland only refers to a small (though dominant) region of roughly the provinces of North and South Holland and a bit of Utrecht.

And both a yes and no would be a generalisation. But I'd guess "yes" (nice nature, no fucked up goverment or anything so...).

Pricespy. It's basically an aggregate site, it takes prices for hardware/software/anything techy and puts them on its website. It doesn't list absolutely every retailer out there, and for certain, more specialized things (like PSUs, expensive CPU coolers, etc) there will be local retailers that give cheaper prices, but it has most stuff.

Oh, and I don't think USB sticks are cheaper here, in fact, they're quite a bit more expensive than even in Oz and especially the US. Same goes for memory cards, I think.

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though...

Thanks, I expected that both countries would have comparible prices.

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though...

If you're going through Malaysia/Singapore, then that's where you should be buying electronics.

We get the 'Australia/New Zealand tax', where electronics products are arbitrarily marked up (eg. games get sold at up to twice their US price, for no reason).

Aye, I could go to the hookers in my own city or other cities. I could also just hit on some random girl and cheat on my girlfriend. The pressence of hookers would be redicilious to "forbid" somebody to go.

Heya all, I only have 10 minutes before this free internet for abckpackers place closes down. I'm stayin at the " ambassador" hostel in Kingscross area near victory street. Low budget. Been raining today sadly. The sky cleared late ni the mornng, I took the gamble of going uot without raining suit and... err.. a bit later it started raining again for hours so I was soaking wet.

Flight went nicely. Some hot stewardesses onboard. I also went to downtown Taipai during my 8 hour stop there. Up with the elevator of the Taipai 101 tower, whcih was pretty nice. Lots of rather good looking asian chicks there, Speaking of which, sydney seems to be crowded with them aswell. :naughty:

I'll try to write a more decent story/report tomorrow when I have more time.

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though...

I'm back again, but apparantly only the first half hour is free so I'll keep it short. =p Today I went back inot Sydney again, weather was good and I made some photo's of sights such as the bridge ofcourse. I did make a mistake though, I helped out several tourist to take pictures of them (and they helped me) , one such event included a group of 5 good looking asian chicks, I helped them making a group photo. I should have asked if they could have made a photo of me aswell with (some) of them included. I'll remember that for tomorrow if I can help good looking ladies out. If they don't cooperate, I'll... erm, nah. If they do, it makes for better pictures. :naughty:

My feet are hurting like a bitch though, I walked around from 11:00-18:30 almost non-stop alogn the coastline, through the city, across the sydney harbour bridge.

Not sure yet what I will do tomorrow, I might catch a museum, walk along the waterline of the royal botanic gardens a bit etc. Though I also want to go down to the beach, perhaps the day after.
I'm rather clueless on how lng I will hang around here. Or were to go next. Up along the coast I guess, or perhaps a detour westwards to hunt down Commie... we will see.

Cheers mates! :D

I am single, always have been. I'm rather shy you know so I generally (like never) approach girls. But perhaps I can learn to change my ways during these three months. ;) We have all sorts of culteres in NL aswell, but it depends on where you live and the immigrants are mostly from northen africa or eastern europe. There are reasonable amounts of asians around (certainly in The Hague's China town...) but not the numbers I'm seeing here. I'm liking it.

The powerhouse was okay, but I expected more from it (like some cool large tesla coil effects etc.). Oh an I will.

Update:
Yesterday I went to Manly beach with the ferry, went to the ebach to look around (seems to be surfing only due to dangerous currents) then back a bit and along the coast westwards thruogh some national park or somerthing (name escaped me) , hiking for 190 km up and down cliffs and hills. Was pretty tiresome but some very rewarding views rom bays and tops. Smaal paths, dence vegatation.. excellent. Then back with the bus to the city. Had to walk again since there was no direct bus to Kingscross.

Today I went to Bondi with the train and bus, looked around a bit (lots of sea vegetation there) then walked along the coast for 4 km. Took a swim in an open U shaped swimming pool with concrete platforms on the sides, a beach on the inside and open to the sea. A bit down the coast at Coogee I took anothet swim at the sandbeach there. Some good waves that knock you off your feet and take you down for a few seconds. Chilled a bit on the beach. Then back to the city with the bus. Temp 25 degrees celcius, sea water 19 degrees.

That is it for now. I don't have any plans yet for tomorrow. The day after my hostel nights will have end but I may extend once more and stay 2-3 additional days. I'll see...

Regards,

Donutz.

Re: The Netherlands will be safe for three months, but the Aussies won't be though...

Today I just went into the city, walked around a bit and did some inquiries about travel information. I'll head westwards 200km tomorrow (friday) 'till monday, Commie lives there. After that I'll had back to Sydney and then up the east coast, though I don't know how yet, with coach (greyhound coaches $351 one way to cairns) or train (CountryLink oneway $410,50 package/pass, 50% discount back again on normal fair) . Bus is probably cheaper (have to look into cost to get back to Sydney) and stops more often so it allows for more oppertunities to get out and see things. I may do that but I'm not sure yet.

I'm only staying 3 months, the last week(s) or so i want to spent in NZ. And traveling alone by car is probably much more expensive (overall) then using a special coach travelpackage. That and I dn't have to worry about accidents, damages, insurance or other potential nasty suprises.

I'll get you (a selection of) pics as soon as I find a location where I can download my pictures from my camera on the computer.
