Alexander, my middle name, comes apparently means "Defending Men."

Re: Meaning of your name?

That makes sense, 'Alexander the Great' probably comes from him.

My name, Richard, means something along the lines of "Powerful leader", although some sources say it means things like "brave" and "hardy" too. :D

Again, 'Richard the Lion Heart' could tie in with that name...

Found this pertaining to my last name:

The meaning of the surname MAIO is - one who was youthful looking; descendant of Matthew.

interesting, because people so often seem to think I'm younger than I am.
Until I joined the corps anyway, now they think I seem older.

and for the record, its pronounced my-oh, NOT MAY-OH!
I AM NOT associated with mayonaise in any way.

LOL. Odessa, could this be a clever form of identity theft,...just kiddin.:D

Seriously though, I've oftened pondered the meaning of my name, as I suppose we all do at one time or another. It's part of our curious nature, trying to find our purpose and all that. Well anyway, this thread inspired me to look it up.

Mine translates to "God is my judge", I guess that's why I get very upset when people try to judge me.

I won't go into details about my middle or last names but I can tell you this, they have a lot of defense, endurance and survival instincts in them.

Haha, now that you mention it...No, of course not :)

Interesting name meaning. I'm glad this makes people think and look up what their names mean. I always wondered what kind of meanings I could dig up for my name.

Ah, that's cool to know, I guess that's why a favourite muscian of mine chose the name Joey DeMaio as his stage name.

My name is Samuel, yeah it means Gift From God.
