Our beloved Gavizard

Is at this very moment laying in the hospital after a car accident with mates. A friend of his has informed us of this on PLF, here are his posts.

Gavin ventured out today with some of his other friends, but was hurt. Now, i dont know how close you people are to Gav, but for your information, he is at this moment in time laying unconsious in a hostpital bed. now, i don't really want to spend too long explaining what happened, but from what i've heard, the driver of the car gavin was in was not paying attention to the road at the time. Gavin was one of two hurt, however, his injuries were more severe. When he wakes up, he will be extremely disoriented and may not remember things for a day or two, however, the doctors said he would be out of hospital by Wednesday/Thursday, providing he wakes up between now and tomorrow evening - when he will be back to the internet is anyones guess, but i don't know if he will be back straight away.

i kinda figured you people should know as he said he was close to some of you - plus he runs this forum. if you have any messages for him, please reply here and i will stop by tommorow to relay them to him if he has awoken.

anywya, thanks for listening.
jubba.

anyway, i didn't give him any messages as he wasn't really up for saying much, or listening cometo that. I'll see him again tomorrow, and maybe he will be up to saying something then. gavs a fighter, but for the next few days, its a case of hoping.

i'll keep you updated as much as i can. thanks for caring, im sure gav will be happy to know you care.

Lets all hope he makes it through this, I for one couldn't bear the thought that I would never speak to Gavin again.

The Joelteon7 October 15th, 2007 01:35 PM

Other than saying "I hope he gets better quicker"...I'm kinda wordless on the situation. Like to talk to the driver though in wondering what the hell he was doing that was so important to not be paying attention to the road though.

the1chaos October 15th, 2007 01:38 PM

Fucking hell. I hope he recovers soon, and he should sue the driver. People like that need to be brutally castrated.

Flash525 October 15th, 2007 01:40 PM

Damn! Well, am glad he is ok now. I get the impression the Driver was older though. Gavin has told me in the past that he had an older Friend who took him driving from time to time.

I think Gavin would be better off learning with someone else if this is the case. I hope you get a speedy recovery Gav. :)

The Joelteon7 October 15th, 2007 01:43 PM

There is actually a further update on Parlancia that wasn't put up here,

hi

it's lucky i came back as i nearly forgot about this place, but i thought you should know. its been an eventful few hours. at about 3:10am, we (or rather his mum) was called up to the hospital after gavin decided to stop breathing, causing a flatline (the doctors think this was due to his lung injury). they managed to revive him by the time i had driven his mum to the hospital, but the doctors are worried this may not be a one time occurance. it is incredibly unbelievable to be saying this, and im finding it hard to grasp myself. its also not a nice thing to see one of the closest people to you hooked up by machines, but that could just be due to that fatc that i hate hospitals myself. by the time we left the hostpital about an hour ago, he was stable and asleep. the driver of the car gavin was in has been arrested for dangerous driving, but if something fatal happens to gavin, i swear to god, the police will be the least of that guys worries. ill be driving his mum back up there later today, and ill return and tell you what else has happened during today. i didnt actually realise gav was so well known on the internet, so thanks for passing this on. i only remember him telling me about another forum called filefront or something, but i cant seem to get on there, so that will have to wait.

As I said, this sounds pretty bad, I hope he pulls through.

I hope to hell nothing happens to Gavin, he is one cool person. I shall hope for the best.

Get well and be strong

Cap'n Rommel October 15th, 2007 02:18 PM

hm.. this has been rather painfull to read..

I dont really know what to say.. so I better shut my mouth and hope for the best

-Slick-cRiSsI October 15th, 2007 02:26 PM

Same.. Don't really know what to say.

Read the first post on Parlancia few days ago.. I really thought it wasn't too serious at first. But with that last post..:uhm:

Hope you'll get fine soon Gav. Don't give up!

Deimos October 15th, 2007 02:52 PM

Crap... get well soon Gav, my thoughts go out to you.

Dreadnought[DK] October 15th, 2007 03:01 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from the entire forum staff here.

Get well soon!

Guyver October 15th, 2007 03:05 PM

I was wondering where he had disappeared to. After reading this though I'm deeply saddened. I hope he pulls through.

masked_marsoe October 15th, 2007 03:46 PM

Like all those above me, I hope Gav is back soon, and in full Gavishness.

Captain Fist October 15th, 2007 04:05 PM

I recognize the name, though I don't remember much of his exploits; did he change his name ever? In these situations I tend to be rather cold, the only the thing I have to say is: [Insert Generic Get Well Comment Here.] Be assured though, you have my deepest concern that I can spare.

Judging from the nature of his injuries, he should be quite alright, though the last update made me think twice.

The-Bleh-Bleh October 15th, 2007 04:23 PM

My goodness, I hope he's going to be fine. I'm not really sure what to say...

Well, best of luck to Gav.

Afterburner October 15th, 2007 05:53 PM

I don't know Gavin as well as some others, but my thoughts go out to him. I hope he soon feels better.

Red Menace October 15th, 2007 06:09 PM

Get well soon Gavin, I know you'll do just fine.

Maeko October 15th, 2007 07:15 PM

Good luck Gav hope you get well soon

He joined as Gavin1701 and is now known as Mr.Gav. He moderates
Star Trek: Legacy, Star Wars: Battlefront Series and Star Wars: Empire At War forums. Though he's seen pretty much everywhere else on the forums too.

Oh and, thanks for stickying this guys.

Rookie October 16th, 2007 04:25 AM

Whoa. I seriously hope that he pulls through this alright. =/

Best of wishes to you, Gav.

Sheepeep October 16th, 2007 04:44 AM

Eek, this explains why he's been silent for the past few days. It's not often that something can leave me lost for suitable words, but this is certainly one of them.

Good luck Gav, and don't you dare not bug me when you get back. :p

sorry for the long delay, ive had to work etc. anyway, just got back from seeing gav and i have a mixture of good news and bad news. firstly, gav is awake and talking which means he has replied to your messages (i had to write both his and your messages down), but he is in extreme pain, and the poor guy is wearing a neck brace and has to use crutches to move around (which is a burden on gav, seeing as he is an active guy).he said;

"thanks for the wishes - believe it or not, they are helping. The doctors say they want to keep me in for at least another week, but if I have to put up with anymore of their shitty NHS food and noise, then i'm going to discharge myself when my test results are back tomorrow. My injuries include; a broken collarbone, a broken shoulder, concussion, my pretty-boy face has been bruised up pretty badly, a broken nose, my legs are bruised in places, the doctors found bruising on my hip bone and a Pneumothorax, which isn't as serious as first thought, even though I did die for about sixteen seconds on Monday morning due to it (bah, they're all over reacting!). Anyway, i'll stop by on the forums to reply to you guys when im out, then i'm going to be taking some time out to rest. I'll also be on MSN to see my sweetheart jess, so if you wish to talk to me, my msn address is in my GF profile. Thanks again."

The next reply will no doubt be from gav sometime tomorrow - i did tell him he should stay in, but he's a defiant guy so ive had no joy confincing him to stay. he keeps saying he wants to talk to jess, so I guess there's no getting in the way of love.http://parlancia.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
Anyway, i must get back to work or my boss will kill me for (what he calls) using work computers for internet socialising.http://parlancia.co.uk/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

also, the guy driving the car has been charged with dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention. they're also debating whether or not to include an ABH charge in their too, but we shall have to wait and see.
that is all.

The Joelteon7 October 16th, 2007 08:21 AM

ABH over GBH? Well what the bloody hell is THAT about?! Screw ABH, go straight up there. I've done my law (basic as it is) and the offence would be bloody GBH...still, he sounds in optimistic shape. And, how cool is it to be able to say that you died for 16 seconds?! Okay, not cool in some sense, but mega-awesome cool in others!

Sovereign002 October 16th, 2007 10:34 AM

Yeah, he does have something to brag about now. It's good to hear he's okay, I just hope he won't try to leave the hospital as fast as he's saying he will. These things need time to heal and ths hospital still is the ebst place for that.

Tommy MK1 October 16th, 2007 11:57 AM

Well, I for one didn't lose my hopes on you Gav. I knew you would get through all of this. You're still young and a healthy person as far as I know. I just hope you'll get enough sedatives to suppress the pain. The next couple of weeks will be a b$#% I can imagen. I've seen first hand how much time it takes to make a full recovery from a car crash. I wish you the best of health and get better soon!

nanobot_swarm October 16th, 2007 03:54 PM

get well gavin

-Section- October 16th, 2007 04:59 PM

Eh! Thats crazy. I was wondering why he wasn't replying to things. =(
Heal up man =/

Looks like he'll be back soon, hopefully he doesn't rush things, though.

PC Chipmunk October 17th, 2007 08:31 AM

Oh dear. Get well soon Gav.

Datarock October 17th, 2007 11:20 AM

First of all, I didn't have a clue about this thread until someone told me about it over MSN. To start with, I am fine, although, the other day I was not. I currently have a long list of injuries, some more severe than others (from fractures to general bruising I guess). To start with, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for replying with your wishes - I didn't see them coming to be honest.

He was showing off his 'awesome' driving skills in front of a group of girls. It was me that got all of the attention however, just not the right kind. He was arrested for dangerous driving and charged with it and driving without due care and attention.

That is exactly what I said. I'll be talking to the police in a few days when I phone them to tell them I am well enough to speak to them. Until then, I should just rest and get better quicker.

Again, thanks for the wishes guys. It means a lot. If I didn't quote you, I apologise.

the1chaos October 17th, 2007 11:23 AM

Great to hear you're getting back on track, Gav. Take it easy though, the first few days after the hospital are always tough.

Tommy MK1 October 17th, 2007 12:05 PM

Yes, you would know, wouldn't you Chaos... ;)

MrFancypants October 17th, 2007 12:11 PM

This list of injuries sounds scary, I hope you'll have a speedy recovery, Mr.Gav!

Sovereign002 October 17th, 2007 12:21 PM

Glad to see you're still alive Gavin. You had us worried for a while. Seriously worried.

Crimson Butterfly October 19th, 2007 01:43 AM

I know we haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye in the past, but this has been kinda hard to read and take in. You don't get stuff like this happening all the time, and maybe that's a good thing. Anyway, hope you get well soon, man.

Well, I have, but there's more. Last night, I had an awful pain in my neck and tried to move it, however this proved unsuccessful. I had to call the doctor out for him to have a look at it and was told to go back up the hospital today to get it checked out. Seems I have a very slight fracture in my neck now too that was not spotted during my time in hospital; kinda figures for the National Health Service.

So now, my recovery time is going to be longer than anticipated, which is going to be a burden on me because I am usually an active guy.

As for the guy who left me in this state; I spoke to the police and they have him on a GBH charge now, so you were right Joel. Apparently, before they had spoken to me, they had him down for an ABH charge.

nanobot_swarm October 21st, 2007 05:31 AM

hooray, gavizard is okay
seriosly sue the guy though, people like him are a threat to the roads
get healed fast

Datarock October 21st, 2007 05:08 PM

As I said, my main priority is getting recovered as quickly as I can and because I left the hospital early, I wasn't referred to a physiotherapist, so I'm regretting that a bit as I have to work harder to recover.

I also developed some injuries that may cost to get repaired, so getting some kind of grant; be it from suing the driver or compensation would be fantastic. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Admiral Donutz October 22nd, 2007 03:55 AM

I just saw this thread (wish I had seen this earlier, sorry), damn fucking hell. This sucks, I'm releaved you were not killed or anything.

I hope you will make a swift and full recovery!

Glad to hear things are coming along. Best wishes and I know you'll make a swift recovery :)

Grievous Bodily Harm; it's often abbreviated to GBH. It's a phrase used in English criminal law which was introduced in sections 18 and 20 Offences Against The Person Act 1861.

Actual Bodily Harm (often abbreviated to ABH) is a type of criminal assault defined under English law. It encompasses those assaults which result in injuries, typically requiring a degree of medical treatment of the victim. It is a hybrid offence, i.e; it can be tried in either the Magistrates' Court or Crown Court. There is a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment if you are convicted.

In the eyes of British law, there are several degrees of assault on another person for which you could be charged if arrested for such offences. I am not sure if these still hold but certainly 'ABH' .. Actual Bodily Harm, would be levelled at you for breaking someone's nose etc. On a sliding scale therefore, Grievous Bodily Harm would be for a more serious offence and 'Wounding' would be at a higher level still.

Unlawful wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm is contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against The Person Act 1861.

The offence is committed when a person unlawfully and maliciously, either: wounds another person; or inflicts grievous bodily harm upon another person.

Both of which I fell victim to.

Theoretically, yes, I'm pretty sure they can. However, I'm not quite sure if that is the case for me. I'll have to look into it.
