I'm reading books all the time! I like dystopian novels best, so my favourites are like 1984 in some ways.
And others.. I'm reading The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists at the moment, it's basically an argument for Socialism written as a fictional novel based in late 19th century/early 20th century Britain.
I've got to review a few of my favourite books because I think everyone should know about them
^ The City and the Stars is based billions of years in the future, where the Earth has aged and the oceans have dried up. There is, however, a completely self-sufficient city, which lives on enclosed from the outside world. The citizens of Diaspar are afraid to leave, except for one person who is unique in that he has never lived before (it's complicated, this is sci-fi). He leaves the city and makes contact with another quite different, society.
My favourite book!
^Fahrenheit 451. The temperature at which paper burns. This is a world where books are banned, and the job of a 'fireman' is to start fires rather than stop them, particularly when it comes to burning books. The story follows Guy Montag, a fireman who grows increasingly disillusioned with his job and the society in which he lives in.
It's sci-fi again, and my second favourite book.
I like a lot of fantasy, sci-fi and horror, especially Stephen King with horror. I think reading is a very useful pastime, it can be fun but also rewarding at the same time. It generally makes you smarter and you don't have to watch any commercials! Ray Bradbury said he wrote Fahrenheit 451 because he felt that "television destroys interest in reading literature."
Yes, I do read whenever I find a book worth reading.
On that note, I'm waiting for Christopher Paolini to finish writing the third installment of the Inheritance trilogy. Until then, I'll amuse myself with whatever I have lying around, which at the present time happens to be "The World According to Clarkson" by...Jeremy Clarkson.
I read alot at home and at school. I like alot of fantasy and fiction. Espesially fiction with lots of action, mystery(not like detective stuff), humor, things that tend to get you thinking. I dont like books with pictures at all. Of course when you get to my age and above you usual dont care for pictures... I guess, thats what i always thought. Ok any way I dont like pics in books like every 5 pages it just dosent seem as fun for me. I just finished the book Warriors, Firestars Quest by Erin Hunter
And today I started on John Flanagan's: Rangers Apprentice, the burning bridge.
I have a love for reading. It expands your mind.
We will go home we will go home... we will go home over the mountains of hope.
Well, I do not think Eleven was enough of a redemption to warrant me getting too upset. Still would kind of like to know how he would salvage it all, though.
Besides being in the second-highest level of English class available at uni here, I read a ton. I have a fav author [Bernard Cornwell, writes about pre-1800's fictional history] from which I've read over 30 books, and I know I've not read much of the "classics" but I'm looking for some Faulkner, I've heard it's hard to read and I like a literary challenge, .
