Lets say you got the information to an admins account and you were banned not to long ago. What would you do? My guess is get your revege by f*cking up the forum (i.e. banning LOADS of members, changing admins passwords, removing forums, etc.) You can do alot of stuff my getting peoples information.

Its probably just some punk trying to cause trouble. Probably got himself/herself banned from the forums.

It's happened before when someone with admin powers was compromised. It's why I don't go carried away with promotions that give forumwide power anymore.

Seriously though, something I haven't seen in this thread so far is the "please spam this email address" scam.

If you see a thread along the lines of "please send me a few emails, testing this address" or "zomg hai plz spam me !!!!", don't do it. The user in question is most probably trying to coax you into giving up your email address and using it for more nefarious purposes.

Phishing can be done in many forms , and these days you can even get hooked by looking at PC software that removes trojans and all that stuff.

Just recently though , right after I installed my newest firewall and security software , I got 2 of the old type of software sales pages stuck onto my desktop. I couldn't get rid of them and they were even able to cut my gaming off and dump me to my desktop to repond to it (again & again).

Then I reported them through my Microsoft browser , the next day there were security updates available and downloading , when they finished , they were gone. So it pays to inform Microsoft , not any of the software manufacturers who will tell you they can't remove "everything".

On the subject of browsers , Microsoft should be kept as the default , while , I found that Maxthon (has Philshing Filter) and many other important things to help protect against sneaky programmers who think they are smart. In fact Maxthon has alot of impressive information on their site , while the downloads are running into the millions.

Theres a few people, who go on hackforums which like to use phishers for xbox live accounts, be careful when you use sites, check the address in the address bar, if something don't add up, or it looks funny.. Then don't use it!
