Sheryl Crow calls for limited use on toliet paper...

This story is a bit old, but I wanted to post it just for fun. Here's the link:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6583067.stm

Here's a few quotes from the news story (the quotes are bolded and my comments are unbolded):

Crow has suggested using "only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required".

Really? And how are we going to be able to judge whether an occasion is pesky or not?

"I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming," Crow wrote.

Your suggestion really shows that you are thinking hard. But please, think harder.

"Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating.

Exactly, in YOUR mind. And maybe in some of the weak minds of the rest of your Hollywood buddies.

"I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting."

Now this is scary. I mean, are we going to have govt. control are most individual and personal actions just to ensure that we don't supposedly "hurt" are fragile little planet?

Crow has also commented on her website about how she thinks paper napkins "represent the height of wastefulness".

She has designed a clothing line with what she calls a "dining sleeve".

The sleeve is detachable and can be replaced with another "dining sleeve" after the diner has used it to wipe his or her mouth.

Yeah, that's like what they did in the Dark Ages you idiot. Wiping your mouth on your sleeve represents the height of primitiveness. Well, not exactly. I guess we should also start wiping our hands on dogs too.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

One square?? I suppose she has never taken a shit, right?

Time2KILL June 28th, 2007 06:17 PM

Wow either this celbrity has the audacity to make a fool out of recycling and our governemnt by proposing such a stupid plan or she is jus really really dumb. Well then again she's a cebrity I bet she feels her shits are small petiet and dont stink either. Besides, there are better ways to save paper... such as making news papers not so damn thick. I mean some of them are like books and most people dont read all that.

May I ask, john_doe2, what your thoughts are on issues such as climate change, over-consumption, and excessive waste? Who gives a shit about Sheryl Crow (and God forbid perhaps taking a few seconds and really considering a bit what she might actually be talking about). The issues she addresses are real. Talk about them, and something might get done.

My thoughts? Well, you see, I am a very simple guy and I like things simple. So my thoughts are rather simple. This big thing over man-made climate change is simply.......bull shit. I personally believe that climate change is simply a natural cycle that Earth takes throughout its life time.

Why do I believe that? Well, guess what people have been finding under the melting glaciers? They have been finding mines and tools set next to them. Those places used to be unfrozen. Humans used to work in those areas. However, the Earth went through sort of a mini ice age and those places never unfroze.

Oh, and guess what's happening to the climate on Mars and other planets aswell? They're becoming hotter too. I guess Martians happen to drive big gas guzzeling SUVs like us stupid humans do.

So what's really happening, IMO, is that the Earth's climate is really just going back to normalcy. All these idiots like Sheryl Crow and Al Gore are trying to screw us over by forcing us to give up some of our life conveniencies in order to prevent this supposed calamity that is going to kill us all. It's all lies.

Really, I don't think any normal person takes this climate change bull shit seriously anymore because all these environmentalists and activists have been pushing it so hard and been trying to shove it down our throats. It's just so stupid.

And to me, it's just so illogical. It's like me saying that the ice age is coming because it snowed down here in Texas a few years ago.

Oh my gosh, a few ice bergs have been spotted in New Zealand. That means the climate is changing and getting hotter and we are all going to die! Oh NOOOO!.......Please.

Zahadoom June 29th, 2007 02:34 PM

One square divide into four pices makes four squares...oops can only use one... hm... this is about the same sizes as my thumb... oh well, for the trees *begin to wipe* oh crap! I've got a turd on my hand... ah nuts... the pice got stuck in my butt hair again... *sigh*

You will be able to tell by how brown your hand gets after the first attempt. I think I might shake hands with this woman afterwards, to congratulate her logic. Toilet paper is obviously the biggest threat to the environment, after all, not fossil fuels, polluting multi-national corporations, developing countries, and suchlike. Or the big limo she is presumably driven around in, or the big, energy-sapping house she no doubt lives in. No, must be toilet paper.

Well, it's getting like that on this side of the pond, it's only a matter of time before you follow suit...

I try not to, as it's depressing. Apparently, Sheryl Crow agrees with me. Who is she, anyway?

APIOQM July 4th, 2007 05:33 PM

MALESTROM July 4th, 2007 10:26 PM

I don't wipe, but then again because if so whenever I do the paper is still white and I shower when I get home, and it's not like anything else is going to be down there...

Is there anyone els with me here?

xXLoBXx July 5th, 2007 12:21 AM

:rofl:anyone else who doesn't wipe?

I mean sure its a good tactic... but a little extreme don't you think?

I say we get "rewipe-able" toilet rags. We wipe... get it cleaned... wipe again...

I don't spend more than a few hours unwiped, and as I've said, I'm not usually constipated...so the area never gets dirty....

You guys make it out to be horrible, I don't know how u guys take craps, but when I do the toilet is the only one you'll see feeling the damage...

xXLoBXx July 5th, 2007 03:19 AM

Ok is you say so ;)

Chocu1a July 5th, 2007 03:52 AM

This is probably the reason that Lance Armstrong dumped her smelly ass. 1 square? Pleeeaaase! I bet she has smelly little dingle berries all over her brown star!

You obviously have not read much of the evidence.'

This is NOT evidence. It is about whether or not we should do anything about global warming.

Interesting Argument About Global WarmingVideo

Sleepy_Sentry July 5th, 2007 07:19 PM

Sheryl Crow is smart. This is just a publicity stunt she came up with to get her name out there.

I'm all for helping the earth, but I think conserving toilet paper is one thing we can overlook.
