I didn't know the army used MP5s. That M3 has nasty recoil...but it's a kickass gun, you must agree. :) |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. He's not ARmy, he's OHMR. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. I've got to shoot .22 rifles back in cadets. I also have got to shoot C-7's (The candain version of the M-16A) and hell yes there so much fun to shoot the M-16's beat the hell outta bolt action rifles even though the were only semi auto. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. And here I am, the most powerful thing I've launched is a tomahawk. |

What guns would I like to own? I'd take basicly any WW2 German gun. In the first place, I'd buy a P08 "Luger" pistol and a Mauser K98. Apart from that, a Steyr AUG, FAMAS, a Beretta 92FS, a Chinese (has an interesting design :D) Type 64 silenced |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. On a spur of the moment type thing I bouth an airsoft Mauser P22 today. I was disapponited because I thought the sucker would be semi-automatic because it said "repeater pistol" on it. But at the same time I like it quite a bit already. It was only 20$ but it came with a two clips instead of the usual 1 most guns come with, and it is more accurate then my other pistol. Best of all it seems to be a pretty solid gun. A good bit of it is aluminum as opposed to the usual plastic. |

Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Jungle Carbine? Are we talking M16A1 carbine, or something the Aussies or Americans used during WWII? |

Spoiler: C&R Firearms which are of special interest to collectors by reason of some quality other than is associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories: (a) Firearms that were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; (b) Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; and (c) Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event. Proof of qualification of a particular firearm under this category may be established by evidence of present value and evidence that like firearms are not available except as collector's items, or that the value of like firearms available in ordinary commercial channels is substantially less. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. So, something like the G11 would apply, but not an AK-47 (well, the originals might) |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Quote:
Not necesarily, one would still have to go thorugh the red tape of getting a class III license for full auto weapons. Also the ATF publishes a list of weapons that are considered c&r http://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/2001index.htm |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. though in a few years getting an AK47 will be easier. Dont think i'd want a 50 year old AK though... on the jungle carbine, you havent had a bad day til youve fired one of those in an enclosed space. if the flash doesnt blind you the blast will concuss you. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. I'd like to fire an OICW all though I doubt that they will ever be avialblie for citezens. |

Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Quote:
Well, not scrapped, the concepts for it are being applied to totally seperate firarms that are NOW in the process of being scrapped. The OICW was designed to showcase and disply new technologys such as computer assisted targeting and laser range detection. They decided that a combo GL/AR platform would be unweildy, heavy and too expensive so the project went from one weapon (OICW) to two weapons (XM8 and XM29) the XM8 failed because its just an ugly G36 which is basically an AR18 which in turn is an AR15 with a gas piston, we can make those for half the price they were charging us for the XM8 and do it faster and better by swapping out some parts. the XM29 is a stand alone GL platform that utilizes a computerized aiming system that can select variable distances with which to detonate a 25mm round (or simply have it be impact detonated). Its supposed to be and probably is far more accurate than the M203 could ever be but apparently the 25mm shell isnt big enough to kill reliably (youd think the solution would be to simply up the grenade from 25mm to the standard 40mm...) thats basically the story in a nutshell |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Plus they were too damn heavy. |

Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Spoiler: I've been looking at picking up an XD .45 ACP. Whaddya think? |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Hell of a piece. If they made it in 10mm i'd replace my Glock 20 with one. |

Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. Man, it sucks that my drill team got rid of the wood M1s the year I came in, now allw e have are crappy heavy replicas. It'd be sweet to equip my team with SKSes, Type-56s, or M14s. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. I like my SKS its a Norinco with a 30 round mag. Also like the fact that it uses standard 7.62x39 ak mags makes it easy to get extras. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. I hear you on that. The only thing that keeps me from buying an M14 over a FAL to add to my G3 and AK is the fact that a decent magazine for an M14 is like 30-40 bucks. I can get almost a hundred G3 or FAL mags for that and AK mags are thrown at you so long as you'll take them off the dealers hands. |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. They've got blued and Parkerized 20 and 30 rd M14 mags at Cheaper Than Dirt for like 12 bucks. I love that place, they're awesome! Personally, I'd like to have a Springfield Armory SOCOM-16 dropped into a Sage EBR stock. :) |
Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers. blech, that detracts from the natural beauty of clean lines and walnut furniture. I will not listen to this blasphemy! unless its in an EBR setup. Thats a pretty sexy way to roll an M14 i think. *edit. i retract my earlier statement, you did say EBR stock lol |
