I didn't know the army used MP5s.
That M3 has nasty recoil...but it's a kickass gun, you must agree. :)

I've got to shoot .22 rifles back in cadets. I also have got to shoot C-7's (The candain version of the M-16A) and hell yes there so much fun to shoot the M-16's beat the hell outta bolt action rifles even though the were only semi auto.

Where'd you get those? I'm especially interested in the K98. :naughty:

What guns would I like to own?

I'd take basicly any WW2 German gun. In the first place, I'd buy a P08 "Luger" pistol and a Mauser K98.
Apart from that,
a Steyr AUG, FAMAS, a Beretta 92FS, a Chinese (has an interesting design :D) Type 64 silenced

On a spur of the moment type thing I bouth an airsoft Mauser P22 today. I was disapponited because I thought the sucker would be semi-automatic because it said "repeater pistol" on it. But at the same time I like it quite a bit already. It was only 20$ but it came with a two clips instead of the usual 1 most guns come with, and it is more accurate then my other pistol. Best of all it seems to be a pretty solid gun. A good bit of it is aluminum as opposed to the usual plastic.

You can find a lot of guns for sale on auction sites, such as www.auctionarms.com or www.gunbroker.com. It's just like Ebay, you bid on the weapon and whoever is the highest bidder at the end wins the gun.

Save for the fact that you have to have it shipped to an FFL licsense holder. However, rifles of a ceartain age can be shipped directly to you if you have a Curio and Relic (C&R) license.

Jungle Carbine? Are we talking M16A1 carbine, or something the Aussies or Americans used during WWII?

he is talking bout this

C&R

Firearms which are of special interest to collectors by reason of some quality other than is associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of
the following categories:

(a) Firearms that were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof;
(b) Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; and
(c) Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event. Proof of qualification of a particular firearm under this category may be established by evidence of present value and evidence that like firearms are not available except as collector's items, or that the value of like firearms available in ordinary commercial channels is substantially less.

Not necesarily, one would still have to go thorugh the red tape of getting a class III license for full auto weapons. Also the ATF publishes a list of weapons that are considered c&r http://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/2001index.htm

though in a few years getting an AK47 will be easier. Dont think i'd want a 50 year old AK though...

on the jungle carbine, you havent had a bad day til youve fired one of those in an enclosed space. if the flash doesnt blind you the blast will concuss you.

was supposed to enter service alongside the XM8 as a complement to the heavy weapons support section of a fireteam, a bunch of rifle men, a SAW gunner and an Grenadier. the XM8 of course got canned but i havent heard anything about the GL getting the boot. What i HAVE heard is that the 25mm grenade wasnt as lethal as fisrt thought and that its fragmentary capabilities were pretty weak, airbursting precision or no.

nobody, its been scrapped.
Well, not scrapped, the concepts for it are being applied to totally seperate firarms that are NOW in the process of being scrapped.

The OICW was designed to showcase and disply new technologys such as computer assisted targeting and laser range detection. They decided that a combo GL/AR platform would be unweildy, heavy and too expensive so the project went from one weapon (OICW) to two weapons (XM8 and XM29)
the XM8 failed because its just an ugly G36 which is basically an AR18 which in turn is an AR15 with a gas piston, we can make those for half the price they were charging us for the XM8 and do it faster and better by swapping out some parts.

the XM29 is a stand alone GL platform that utilizes a computerized aiming system that can select variable distances with which to detonate a 25mm round (or simply have it be impact detonated). Its supposed to be and probably is far more accurate than the M203 could ever be but apparently the 25mm shell isnt big enough to kill reliably (youd think the solution would be to simply up the grenade from 25mm to the standard 40mm...)

thats basically the story in a nutshell

perfer the 'lite' (.40SW) for day to day carry. My Glock 20 shoots nothing but Cor-Bon Hunter full powers though as i use it for a hunting sidearm. 10mm auto is a bit much for humans

I like my SKS its a Norinco with a 30 round mag. Also like the fact that it uses standard 7.62x39 ak mags makes it easy to get extras.

Re: Firearms Discussion Thread... For all you Gun Lovers.

I hear you on that. The only thing that keeps me from buying an M14 over a FAL to add to my G3 and AK is the fact that a decent magazine for an M14 is like 30-40 bucks. I can get almost a hundred G3 or FAL mags for that and AK mags are thrown at you so long as you'll take them off the dealers hands.

It's a damn shame m14s are so expensive. Shit alot of them near a used car price range. I have heard good things about Chinese m14s but they are illegal to export here in the states they sell for under $500 in some stores canada.

yeah, the Norinco M14's had pretty crappy finishing touches but with a few USGI parts thrown in were very reliable arms for less than half of what a US made M1 goes for. Hard to find those pre ban chinese '14s too
