At the gunshop in town they have an HR Garand for $600 and a Springfield for $850. Once I get enough money im going to get the Springfield. I prefer that over the HR because Id rather own somthing with a bit of history. Ill probably get a ww2 era sling and bayonet too, just for decoration. But first I got to get a cleaning rod, bayonet, sight hood, and a sling for my K98. An expensive hobby...

My bro has an M1 Garand. All parts from eBay, except the receiver, which he bought from a local shop. Free assembly from a neighbor, who has a large interest and collection of guns, including a few M1 Garands.

A few M1 Garands? Does he feel like giving some away to a poor, underpriviledged child from California who has only held a Garand once or twice?

Y'all will love this. I have what they call the "black rifle disease". That's one of my AR-15 projects.
