Airsofting Talk

What airsoft uns do you own? Have any tales to tell?

I have a strange Airsoft Rifle Kit. When I first saw this airsoft rifle online it was called a SIG SAUER 552 Style Full Auto Electronic Airsoft Gun. I found it at Amazon.com. It soon dissapeared but I remembered the company name on the picture, Zid Airsoft. So I found their website and looked for the gun, this time it was named "M82". When I got the gun, the box said it was created by Double Eagle. Now, I call it what I know it as: SCAR-L. Type it in Google and do an image search you'll find it. The SCAR-L comes in a kit so it has a lot of stuff: Clip, BB Loader, Cleaning Rod, Foldable Stock, Grip, Red Dot Scope with Rear Sight, Silencer, Flashlight, Red Laser (Very Powerful), Full Auto and Single Shot, and goggles. 30 Shots.

My pistol is just a Sig Sauer P226. 12 Shots.

Cheap-ass broken Raccoon City (Resident Evil: Apocolypse) replica pistols. had a cheap laser and everything. 4 for $20 off eBay (included shipping). Some of the pellets got jammed in my printer because i shot them inside...

Oh! I also had a fully auto electric MAC10, broke before I could use it, the dude wouldn't give me a refund. It looks really cool though, if it weren't so godd*mn broken....

My experience: Don't buy cheap airsoft guns.

An M249 SAW eh, I don't know what the price for other stores is but at Amazon last I heard it was like $999 or something like that. But according to the way it looks: very good.

AR-15, you mean?

I have three tokyo Marui products, all electric pistols, two crappy Chinese spring pistols, one crappy Chinese spring G36, one Crappy American M16, and one cool M4A1 AEG

The muzzle velocity of the CA M15A4 is about 315 FPS with .20 g BB, I think the ROF is around 900 rpm. Gnspr9, correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, how useful are all those sound suppressors, lasers and flashlights really? ;)
As for realism, I have yet to see assault rifles with suppressors used on a large scale by any military. Same goes for most other stuff, except to a degree red dot sights and scopes. Everyone being some SWAT guys or special ops is far from realistic.

BTW, the ROF of the Fa-Mas is ca 1000rpm, it is quite useful for suppressing fire, but the 60bbs in a mag don't last long on auto.

At Redwolf Airsoft they've got STAR M249s for $500 and the M249 Para model for $530. That's where I'm getting mine.

i thought they were still legal in CA, you just couldn't brandish them in public, or use them on any public grounds/any place that the public can see you.

Your singing my tune my friend. I play with two 'sets', one standard US infantry and another Opfor set. It gets annoying to see gear whores trying to portray a Ranger Battalion and having more gear than a real ranger would ever carry.

US set
CA M15a2, Trijicon ACOG
TOP M249 (even got a real disintegrating link with some real rounds for that authentic touch)
Standard BDU's, IBA plate carrier, Nylon Vest (issued gear have no idea who manufactured it) Pistol belt, H-Straps, 2 canteens, camelbak (stealth model) 36 magazines, Buttpack (BHI i think)

OPFOR set
King Arms Dragunov (real wood)
US Flightsuit/overalls. web belt, with Y straps, 2 canteens Chicom SKS carrier vest 10 mags.

I wouldn't worry about the price for long. A couple of years ago when the first batches of MICH Helmets were just coming out, the ones I could find on ebay were up around $500 - $600. Now that there are more of them out there, the prices are down around $150 - $200. I'd give it maybe another year or so , and chances are they'll be selling for about the same as the K-Pots!

Personally, I'm saving up the cash to get a "CommandoLite" ACH off of US Cavalry. It's a lightweight ACH style helmet that weighs little over 2 Lbs, yet offers IIIA ballistic protection!

you guys actually get any use out of those spring and gas pistols? i kind of want one but cant justify the purchase because in all the years ive soft aired i never found myself in a situation where i would have used one or wish i had one.

-DarthMaul- July 31st, 2006 07:39 PM

Re: Airsofting Talk

Well in CQB, You'd wither want a LPAG or a GBB..I chose GBB, becase an AEG would hurt and there are limits to how close you can use them in CQB, or else you hurt your friends and other participants.

Ecspecially with me since my G36k it has like 400FPS which scares the shit outta peeps.

Crazy Wolf July 31st, 2006 07:42 PM

Re: Airsofting Talk

See, I like my old spring pistol, as it packs a decent wallop for a spring, and is quite accurate. It is good if you have a place to take cover, or if you need a quick shot. Actually, when i still had it, and was good with it, I was able to shoot off a twig that was over 50 feet in the air, and over 40 ft horizontally away from me(redwoods in the backyard? eenteresting)

Re: Airsofting Talk

Well lets see I don't have any electric guns as they are way too far out of my budget but I do own several spring guns

L85A2 Carbine
HFC M16A1
Harballer Shotgun, broken although I haven't hade time to fix it
WELL M4A1, not high quality but has loads of accesories
CYMA Baretta M92f, had several attachments that made the gun look futuristic, its in pieces now
CYMA Pistol, I don't know the model it was based on although it looked sort of like an AMT Hardballer. It is also broken
CYMA AKS-74U, had a jam on the first day, since then only the mag exists.

So far I learned not to be tempted into buying cheap Chinese airsoft guns. Their good for film props not much for anything else though.

Roaming East August 1st, 2006 07:36 PM

Re: Airsofting Talk

hmm, the HFC berreta clone does look nice. i might pick one up just to round out the kit. cant remember when i last used one in real life though. The AF is iffy about pistol issuance.

Crazy Wolf August 1st, 2006 10:16 PM

Re: Airsofting Talk

Why, they figure only NCOs and officers need them? What about maintenance crews? I have no idea how the USAF issues weapons.

Roaming East August 2nd, 2006 01:20 AM

Re: Airsofting Talk

Everybody deploys with a weapon registered to them, normally an M16 or carbine variant. upon entering theater, they put it in armory never to be seen again until you head back to the states (unless your job requires it such as afsoc, SF, ENTAC etc)
Pistols are normally issued to Transport folks, OSI, SP's and finance guys. fighter pilots pack them (though most helo crews have SMG's or carbines from what i saw) and of course HQ staff gets them 'to look cool'.

If you want one that hurts like crap buy either a gas operated pistol, or a Spring Sig Sauer P226. Both of these hurt a ton.

Judging by the context, I'd say Sp has something to do with logistics or command, not Special Forces:p

yeah, SF is security forces and SP is security police. both are the same job, just desribes what they are doing. We call them SP's if they do policing stuff and SF if they are doing that whole base defense thing

Over here pistols are issued to whomever is qualified, that is mandatory for brass and NCOs and optional for grunts like me. I qualified basic pistol, getting the minimum score for qualification!

I wouldn't get a KJW berreta, I'd get a 1911 Para full metal, those have REALLY good reviews. Or a carbine, seriously, this is the best gas gun I had ever owned, 450 FPS
