See, what you need are multiple weapons. One that you actually aim with, and is fairly accurate, and another that is just a pellet hose.

not in the vest, they're too expensive, but the vest alone should stop 9mm rounds, or shotgun rounds alone, if i'm correct.

but yeah, i do have the plate for the groin protector.

Shabaam. Heavy too, no joke. least i dont have to wear the soft armor inserts. BTW, without the plates or soft armor inserts, the IBA kevvie will only stop JHP 9mm, ball or +P stuff will cut on through.
This setup is about 20 pounds, without gear. my LBV with full complement of 10 mags and misc gear will add about another 10lbs, and then theres the buttpack, assault bag and whatever commo stuff i need and water. I try to keep it to 40lbs if im walking, 60 lbs if we're motorized.

See, that is a weight I try to keep below on hikes. I don't think that wearing all that stuff will be much help in Airsoft, just have what you need, and some stuff that will make it easier for you. (Binoculars, duct tape, stuff like that)

I just play springers with my friends for the moment, but I would love to get an AEG and start doing more things.

Aegs are much fun, especially when playing against springs. Always makes me think of the Wild West, and of the wagon box fight, I think it was by Fort Kearney, IIRC.
