Childhood Dreams and Fantasies

Well last night I had insomnia :( and couldn't sleep, but for the one and a half hous I did sleep, childhood dreams flooded my mind and I was taken back to when i was about 3-4 years old. When I woke up I thought about them a lot and tried to think about what they might mean. But then I had a paper round (Even with severe lack of sleep I still managed to do it without mistakes :)) And when I got back I thought of posting here, so after a shower and a quick nap (2 hours :)) I thought I'd post my dreams here and see if anyone of you can understand them (sort of) :).

1) Well this one starts off with my parents (without my brother) taking me to Manchester (we visit a lot because my Grandad (on my dad's side) lives there) but we never made it there, instead, we always came across a problem that meant we had to turn off into a posh housing estate and every time we'd stop at a different house (this was a very repeitive dream with a few changing factors, such as the house we went to) I can't remember most of the houses, some were simply friends houses, some were friends of my parents, whom I'd met at some point or another. And sometimes (to my displeasure) we went to my dead Grandad and Grandma's house (I described them to my mum once (her parents) and I was right about them, yet I never met my Grandma, nor seen a picture of her (but I knew and loved my dear Grandad)) But, last night I remembered my most frequent dream, where we stop at a smallish house right in the centre of the estate and I'd always jump out of the car window and run in. I knocked on the door and waited patiently for the man called Patrick to open it and let me in (my parents didn't come for some reason) and I'd play (for what seemed like) hours on end with an older girl (5-6). We played just about anything; cars, trains, Doctor, Teacher and once (I remember very well for some reason) we had a mud bath together. But last night, we were our age as of now (as in I'm 13 and she's 15) yet, we did the same things, howeve we mostly talked about our childhoods with each other. It was an amazing thing, we conneced so well and I just didn't want it too end, but like all dreams it had to end and we hugged and said goodbye. My parents would drive me home and when we got there, I'd go to my bed and I'd wake from the dream.

That's my favourite, I wish it was real though, it was an awefully nice drem to have as a child. But I have no idea what it means

2) This starts off with me waking up in the morning and looking forward to going to a fair at the top of the cliff next to the village (not a real village, this was my imagination) and I'd walk through it, watching my friends enjoy themelves on the rides, the arcades and other fair stuff, but because my mum can't ride on rides due to heart probs and my Auntie who was always with us was a wuss, I was never allowed on the rides or anything fun. (this was a quick dream btw) and at the end we'd walk out of the fair at the end of the day and walk down the cliff. As we walked, I could hear people screaming and laughing with joy. I would alway feel sad, in fact, so sad that I'd jump off the cliff the moment my mum let go of my hand. I'd land in my room a good 100m below, perfectly on my bed. Then I'd wake up.

I don't like this dream, it's very sad and very true to other people who were bullied at a young age (like me at 6-7). I didn't dream this last night, but I remember it well, and wish it would leave my mind. I think that this means I'm overprotected and am missing out on a lot of things in life :(.

3) This dream is a giant escape from an evil force, of which I do not remember, but I briefly dreamed it this morning when I had a nap. It stars with everyone in a giant play area (one of those big cage-structured ones with bright coloured padding over the metal and has lots of climbing frames, obstacles and slides in it). We had to get through to the other side and escape from the force that was chasing us. As I ran I could hear the screams of the people who were caught by it. I was always out of the plaything quickly (probably too quickly, it felt a good adrenaline rush.) And my friend and I (a real friend from childhood) ran around a giant lake, past a small group of buildings and past a port type thing. We always looked back and saw people at the other edge of the lake being killed by the force. My reind and I kept running and we jumped onto two separate zip-lines (one each) and we'd get to the end, where there was a short sprint to press a button. When this button was pressed (always by me, my friend was overweight and couldn't run that fast) it would tansport everyone in the dream onto these boats that magically appear at the port, and I'd be left there and have to run to the boat before it left. I never made it, no matter how hard I tried, I never made it. I'd be left at a one-on-one with the evil force, I was able to hold my ground, but when the boats were at a safe distance, they'd nuke the place, killing me and it. The white light was the last thing I saw before I woke.

This is a very odd dream indeed, and I think it means I have little time to do things, or that I must sacrifice myself for the greater good :uhm:

Well if you could be bothered reading that, thankyou :). But It's ok if you didn't.

If you have any tips for me, or ould like to share your own childhood dreams and fantasies, then please post :)

I know I have dreams, just can't remember them as vividly as you people can. Though when I wake up I always panic for a second because it feels like I'm falling. Weird.

Speaking of Jurassic Park....I remember sitting in the cinema when I was 3 and watching that film.I also remember sitting in the car on the way home afterwards..captivated.I was truly amazed. And of course at that age I thought that this park actually existed, and I wanted to visit :(.

My childhood memories were mainly dinosaur-related.(Related to Jurassic Park.....)

Well, like I said, I had a recourance of these dreams (which may be because of a wasted childhood I think.) Besides, I'm younger than most here (what do I mean "most" it's only me, J.C and FoodManiac who are 13 ) and most of my dreams were barely 3 years ago, so they're easy to remember.

And yes, that's a common feeling after a dream, I have it every morning, I've alos had swaying feelings and rising feelings.

I'd also like to add Deja Vu to the subject. Like when you have a dream and a few days, weeks or even months later it actually happens, and only at that point you realise you had that dream.

Re: Childhood Dreams and Fantasies

I used to have this scary dream as a child (3-4 years old), where my parents would take me into this big white room (mabye a hospital or something), and leave me there. Then the room would literally start spinning around really fast. Then this doctor would appear out of nowhere, and stab me with an oversized syringe filled with this green liquid. at this point in the dream, the room would start spinning even faster as I fell unconscious. Then I would wake up...

I think the dream was related to a time when I was about 2 years old, when I drank a whole bottle of strawberry flavoured medicine... mistaking it for some sort of strawberry flavoured drink. I had to spend 3 days in hospital after having my stomach pumped, which kinda haunted me for a few years afterwards.

I had this one dream that must have happened alot...

I was little, maybe about seven. I was walking around randomly outside, with my parents, friends, people I didn't know... It was kind of different each time, and it didn't really matter who it was. Well, we'd be walking around, and randomly this old lady would ask us to come inside her home, which was like a dug out burrow (think the hobbit holes from Lord of the Rings). And this lady was really old and decrepit. Like a witch. Well, we followed her in there, and under the stairs we found gold. She let us take all we wanted -- and we did. It turned out that it was fool's gold, though. Slightly disappointed, we were still in her little hole when the ground started shaking and dust started falling. We decided to wait around for a while, and when we finally made it outside, we found most of the landscape scarred and torched in a nuclear apocalypse. And thats about where it ended.

I was such an innocent little kid. :lookaround:

Heh, here's another one that happened two or three times.

You know those falling dreams, when you fall out of an airplane or something and then wake up right before you hit the ground?

Well, I'd have a dream that I was in an elevator. I think it was an elevator to get to the top of a ski mountain, or something, so it was pretty tall. Anyway, we'd get to the top and the cable would snap, so we'd start falling. "Alright," I think to myself, "this is just another falling dream. I guess I'll just wake up now." See, lots of times when I'm having a dream like that, I can just wake up. But, this time I couldn't. Continuing to fall, I kept thinking to myself, "alright, wake up. Wake up. WAKE UP." I'd finally wake up after we hit the ground, sweating pretty badly. Not fun.

What's worrying is that one of my good friends had a dream about the college burning down. This is either a good or a bad thing depending on whether I'm in it. :uhm:

This happened when I was about 11-ish.

Ive had 2 of those weird reoccuring dreams...

The first was when i was like 9 and Me and some people i dont know were crossing this wooden rope bridges that usually go accross canyons and such and well we were running from what I think was a seseme street charcter and then I start to run accross the bridge and the thing cut the ropes and I fell. I had that dream a few times.

The other one was when I was staying at my grandmas house for a week or two during the summer and I had dreamed that it was WW2 all over again but this time the Germans had inavded the US and they had taken my grandpa and then I found him tied to a chair duck taped. A very weird dream that somehow scared me to death because I had it a few times..

I used to have a re-occuring dream when I was little all the time, which was actually quite violent for a 6 year old. I would be sitting on the couch watching TV, and my dad would come in and ask me questions and get increasingly annoying. I would yell at him to go away and he would. Later I would to the basement and open the door, and my dad would be lying on the floor at the bottom of the basement, his neck in a wierd ragdoll position. I would see that for about 2 seconds, than I would feel a hand on my back push me, I would fly to the bottom and go right up to my dads face (before I hit him from falling) and wake up.

I would literally wake up crying like 6 days a week. I don't think I ever told my parents. If I did, I don't remember telling. It went away after about a month.

Also, when I was really young (also after seeing Jurassic Park - that films caused so many problems for so many people), I used to have nightmares that dinosaurs were trying to get into the house, and I would run round (in the dream) trying to keep out of sight of the T-Rex.

Falling dreams tend to be that you're running out of time. Waking up after you hit the ground is that you have run out of time. Altough it could also to do with heights, or skiing :uhm:

But seriously, that could be that you believe that Jesus is coming back, or that you want s saviour in your life, or more likely, you just saw somehting very religious to do with Jesus and wish he were real.

In the first one, did the other people make it? If so, then you felt like life was passing you by, or that you were feeling left out.

You love your Granpa, and get worried about him because of war (him being in the Navy). Back then, you couldn't understand war fully and wouldn't know if one was on or not

You hated your dad, and probably still do (who doesn't?). But deep down you loved him really, but didn't want to accept it. The hand pushing you could have been your mum, trying to help you, or (in your opinion) force you to get along with him.

Telling people can make it worse. But sometimes it helps ;)

Have you ever been on a trip to Venice and get lost in the poor side of town? If so, it's fairly obvious, the Elephant can represent that you forgot your way around (Elephants rember a lot apparently, and blue ones are often seen as an exception, though there is no such thing)

I really believe in prophesy through dreams, perhaps it is just thinking about something too hard.

When I was like 9, we were in Florida, my Mom was terminal with Cancer, and we were really believing that she was going to live, she seemed to be getting a little bit better, a week before she died she came dancing out of the bedroom.

Well, I remember having this dream with me and my family being in this thunderstorm, everyone in my (close) family, we went in this garage to seek shelter, and the door shut, I couldnt see inside for some reason, but when the storm stopped, the door opened and everyone in my family but my Mother came outside, like she had vanished, no one seemed to notice.

I didnt really think about that dream again till I was about 13-14, then it kind of etched into my psyche, my Sister also had some spooky dreams aswell.

^ Ok, deadly serious, just friends! Got it? Good.

Do you like swimming? If not, then well you don't like swimming. If you like swimming, then you have something against small metallic objects. Do you like listening to Metallica?

Well if he doesn't like Metallica, then the name can be carried to Metallic. Your mind can make the wierdest of connections, we just have to think every possible reason to understand.

My dreams are mostly flashes, like the deja-vu thing you said. But I remember one vividly.
I was in the backyard, and my dad was stacking wood. I remember standing on top of something, but not bothering to look at it. Then ,off to the side, my little brother fell in the mud, and then I woke up.
2 years later, it happened in real life, and when it did, I nearly fell off of the wood pile (Cause that's what I was standing on. I was already on top of it before the events of the dream happened.).

The first dream I can ever remember having was when I was, like two or three.

All it was was me continuously falling down into a spinning void (you know those black and white pinwheel things). Except this one was yellow and black.
