piccolo petes are actually VERY cool if you light more than one off at the same time. they harmonize with one another and create an eerie(LOOUD) theremin-like sound. but my favorites are the hogchuckers(southern slang for mortars :) and big bottle rockets. The bigger the bang and brighter the flame is what I always say. those things that spin on the ground and emit sparks are alot of fun in a bottle rocket war though, try to throw em in your friend's shirt pockets (not really)

You're good then. :D

My dad told me a story about how he and his brothers used to run around throwing firecrackers at each other. They carried them around in little pouches. One time, someone threw one into my uncle's pouch... yeah.

It makes for a good story, though.

Seriously? They sond like a theremin? Odd, kinda an obscure musical intrusment to compare them to, but I would never have guessed that it would sound like that.

So, you mean light them so they go off at the same time, or in series?

I love anything that either, explodes in a big bang, flies, or flies and explodes. All of them are illegal in PA though. Thankfully we have Ohio with a multitude of dangerous fireworks only 15 miles to the west. I had some fun in 2004 when my uncle spent about $200 in ohio on fireworks. Now he lives in FL:(

Wyoming, I spent less than $70 on fireworks. 3 hours of constant explosions and launches later, I was happy.

Just about anything that goes boom, or launches up into the air. Both of those kinds of fireworks are illegal in Minnesota (only wimpy (:p ) fountains allowed), but about 3/4 of our population just cross into Wisconsin and buy the good ones.

I also occasionally make my own Roman Candles, Firecrackers, Aerial Shells, and Mortars. Fun to experiment with them!

Ah yes, I forgot roman candles. Those things are only good for shooting at your friends, though. :p

First: Tactical Small Nuke detonated at 1 mile above the local cities and towns to create EMP to turn off lights, and the huge explosion
Second: Soda cans loaded with black powder piled in a heap with fuses attatched to each can, did I mention they would be really really long fuses. Sit back half a mile away and watch the explosion.
Third: Get together every illegal firecracker that flies and explodes and load up some smoke bombs on em, it's not likely to go very far, but it would create some nice fog where the colors of the explosions would be picked up.
After that: Sparklers... attatched to the end of every bottle rocket that could be strapped together
After that: Crackles, no big boom, but heavily anoying to those who don't know what's going on

Catherine wheels are pretty cool if you can get a good one.

A lot of them are quite lame and just whizz around letting off bog standard sparks, but some squee as they go round and are brightly multicoloured.

I like reading the descriptions of fireworks - they almost invariably always say :
Emits sparks and showers.
