Dead body farm!

They want to open this "Farm" in Richmond Township which is about 8 miles from my home. I cannot believe what they plan to do.

Read the Story

 "OMG my property values will go down!" Why are people so concerned with only themselves? It's rediculous.

Richmond Township has no zoning, but trustees said zoning might make it more difficult to open the facility but probably would not stop it.
How is zoning going to make it more difficult for the facility to open if there is no zoning?

This article is rediculous. It reads like a bunch of gossipy teenaged girls.

What the heck is a "body farm" anyway? A "politically correct" cemetary? I suppose you're opposed to those too, right?

Ohhhh i saw 1 of those on CSI Miami i think.

IT sorta looked like a green houes it but it was realllly long and the roof was like semi circle.

anyways inside it there were long tbles reachign the ends of the buildings. aalll filled with dead bodies stacked on top of each other..

I also beleve in big citys like New York, that there are places cinda like these were unclamied dead bodies go. aparently the place smells like rotten meat, piss, vomit and everything mixed together.....

i COuld never work in a place liek that

I think SpaZy's on the mark -- it'll be for forensic purposes, nothing sinister.

I wouldn't worry about property values though. Any lower than $125,000 and they'd be practically free anyway.

Sorry I did not give you the entire story, but that is what it is all about. Forensic testing and experiments.

Sawdust can cause cancer. What's your point? Random citizens aren't going to be going aroung playing with the bodies. Nobody opposes a morgue because *gasp* the people are dead. That's the purpose of a morgue. This facility also has a purpose which is no more trivial than that of a morgue.

Mastershroom April 12th, 2006 11:45 AM

Re: Dead body farm!

I assume disease and smell won't be much of a problem. I assume (or at least hope) that this place will have the bodies contained within the building, without the windows open...

Re: Dead body farm!

Well the article look proffesional to me, more like an article for a gossip tabloid. But besides that I can't see the big deal, aslong as the area in use is properly fenced off (no need to turn it into a fort either mind you!) and made sure that people living nearby won't be affected in any shape or form I think it's just fine. It's not like people are trying to dump dead bodies next to your drive way. :/

Can't see why property values would drop either, does it make living there any less pleasant? I think not.

What worries me is the well water that we have around here. Sure! There may be dead animals around also, but decomposing human body matter in my coffee!

Crazy Wolf April 17th, 2006 09:12 PM

Re: Dead body farm!

Better make sure that when that thing gets built, that they lay down a deep metal bed or something. Corpses in the water=not good for the healthy stuff, like living.

You think wrong.
Many things can affect property values, and this one I can tell you is not a possitive one;)

Appearance, more than anything else. When someone asks you where you live, and you say "oh, just turn right at the dead body farm", you're not going to get many people coming to your house-warming party, if you know what I mean.

Then of course there's a serious risk of spectral infestation and the undead. Many of the bodies there will have died under violent circumstances, and may well be restless.

Just tell them to make a right turn at the end of the lovely fenced of parc. :p

And zombies and living dead can be a great way for entertainment. Bored during your holiday? Go and get haunted by zombies comming to eat your brains, that sure keeps you busy. There are no negative sideeffects, it cant fail since if they succesfully eat your brains you won't have to bother being bored again. You won't know you're bored!

oh it's a very cool thing

In southern california about an hour away from me, they have one. It really benifits the forensic crime scene people, they sit there putting dead bodies in different situations to learn more about it, and to even help prosecute a criminal case.

They burn em... put them in bags.. etc etc etc I watched a show on it once.. among got some information from our forensics department

I saw a very interesting documentary on the National Geographic channel about body farms. There's nothing wrong with them unless you are one of the students learning to cope with the smell...

Yeah, the stink and the decomposition are the things that make me realize a career in forensics is not for me. Interesting subject, though. And good to know.

Re: Dead body farm!

There is still some open land in SoCal. Not much(or at least not much in the areas irrigated by stolen water), but some. Enough for a body farm. Also, with a large city like Los Angeles, and other fairly large cities like San Diego, a good body farm is good to have.
