OMG! yeah, i'm picking a 7. While the fascisim here is understood, it is fascist. Alot of other forums are much more lax, but i think GF is definetly one of the best, actually the best forum out there. Plus we have reasons why admins/mods are strict, there are many adverts, out of line activities, resulting in bans, etc.
Wow. I definately think GF's fascist. I agree though with Mr.Matt, GF's run by humans without a certain amount of disipline the whole thing would be a massive spam forum. For every action there's a consequence. Ours is AzH. But really it depends on the person and there general posting history if there a n00b they get a warning, if there a mod they should know better etc. We need rules that's what keeps and makes GF so great. We have something that keeps us within boundaries and smacks us when were pushing them.

GF suffers from the human condition, being as it is run by humans. Therefore, the degree of strictness varies from moderator to moderator. Some are questionably liberal, some are questionably strict, and the rest lean towards one of those two extremes at times but generally maintain a balance. Moderators by definition are supposed to be unbiased, not allowing their personal opinions to sway their judgements, but such a moderator doesn't exist. Because humans are imperfect. So are you, so you shouldn't hold it against them.
The forum generally speaking goes through phases; sometimes it is strict, sometimes it is not so strict. There was once a time when General Yib-Yab (Off Topic) was a place to have a laugh, almost a secondary spam forum. Now it is more strict. It will probably change again in the future. The same with the Pub, and all other forums. It is impossible to give a definitive rating.
I have to agree with you there Matt. I personally think that I use a comfortable medium regarding moderation of the forums I'm assigned to. If being strict is called for I use it other than that I just make suggestions and post like every other regular member on the forums.
Being a newbie i want to gave 7/10 coz most of the topics here the moderators know what they talking about and the staffs. And i sense that most of them or should i say all of them are friendly... plus like what he said freedom is such subjective term.

as everyone has said we need rules to keep the idiots in line. from my experiences GF is for the most part remarkably tollerant of people and how they discuss things but if saying such things are prohibited and you will get punished for ignoring this is fascist then so be it, i don't see it working any other way really.
