Ive noticed some thread's here about people that cannot access gaming forums due to a proxy server (or school/work security settings).
i had the same situation with my work. when my work moved to a new building about 3 months ago, they put up a proxy server, so we could only use the net on site's they allow (anything related to our work is all we are allowed to view).
these comp's are emachines, and they do not have CDROM drives or floppy drives. they are all installed using network tools. these comps do however have USB ports. so the other day i grabbed one of my flash drives and put firefox on it. i put it in the USB and bam!, firefox bypasses the proxy server.
this now means i can come on the forums at work!!
well, just thought i would let you know in case you are having the same problem. but Use at your own risk. i doubt they would be to pleased with me if they walked by and saw me using firefox. and my boss can view my screen from his desk whenever he feel's like it. (but i usually know when he's looking).
so ya; just thought i would let you know in case you are having the same problems. im pretty excited seeing work blows, and atleast now i can come on the forums.
At this time of the year, the word 'work' is almost a joke on the internet desk. Gaming Forums is all I can do at the moment. Today I've made two slight modifications to the website. That's it. The paper's so thin you could fit it all on a single sheet, and because not everything from the paper makes it to the website...
I've been here since 9:00am. It's now 3:25pm and I've had all of five minutes work to do. I'm not sure why we bother coming in, but my holiday doesn't start till next week...
So yeah, if they blocked Gaming Forums here at the moment I'd probably fall asleep. Lucky the IT department here is so liberal, really. The department manager keeps coming down here and showing us funny websites that he found, for crying out loud.

We found that last year, but then they blocked it. I'll try firefox, though, that sounds like a good idea.
Hmmm, I guess I could "borrow" a flash drive from one of the computer labs, they tend to leave those things around.
The only problem is getting away with it, the best place for doing this would be in the library, but I don't think those computers have a very accesible USB port.
We have the same computers, but only in the computer labs where all the computers are lined up on the outside against the wall so a teacher can see what you are doing.
I think we should start planning the ultimate way to get rid of a teacher in a way as to attract the least amount of attention possible.
