Avatars?

This is a stupid question, but where and how do you get avatar's (not the custom GF ones)? I'm not very literate when it comes to this sort of thing...

Re: Avatars?

find an immage on the internet, right click go down to properties. then highlight the address and copy and paste it into the avatar thing....yeah

Pethegreat July 3rd, 2004 08:31 PM

Re: Avatars?

here is waht you do
  1. get a picture that you want to use as an advartar
  2. make sure it is less than 100x100 pixles
  3. then save it in a file on your comp
  4. go to upload advartar and find that file
  5. if it is correct it will work:D

And it must be below 78.1 KB.

Re: Avatars?

I found an avatar I like, but it's too big so I went to an edit shop. How do i find what size it is after I edit it?

-[Blaze]- July 3rd, 2004 08:46 PM

Re: Avatars?

Go to file open, then find your file, and hold your cursor over it until it says something. It should say how many KBs it is, or you could just try to upload it as your avatar and see if it works.

Re: Avatars?

How do you take a screenshot of what's on your computer like you just did?

V0rtex July 3rd, 2004 08:49 PM

Re: Avatars?

I resized my avatar (i found out how) to 100 by 100 pixels, but now all i see is a red x by my name. Does this mean it's too big?

Pethegreat July 3rd, 2004 08:51 PM

Re: Avatars?

Press the "print screen" key on your keyboard and paste it in a image editor.

Pethegreat July 3rd, 2004 08:57 PM

Re: Avatars?

i answered it in my post on how to make the size of your image smaller look:D

V0rtex July 3rd, 2004 09:01 PM

Re: Avatars?

Ok. I resized it to 90X90 pixels. I then went to the edit avatar option is User CP and clicked upload avatar from your computer. I then uploaded it. I'm just wondering why i can't see it.

-[Blaze]- July 3rd, 2004 09:04 PM

Re: Avatars?

Attach your Avatar as an image in a post. Let us see it and we might be able to do something.

V0rtex July 3rd, 2004 09:23 PM

Re: Avatars?

Thx for the help but I'm just too lost. I'll stick with the custom GF ones.

Re: Avatars?

Okay, when replying to a post, scroll down to where there's a button that says, "Manage Attachments" Click on that, then click Browse, find your Avatar and click upload image(s). Then hit "Submit Reply" It will show us your image.

Pethegreat July 3rd, 2004 09:43 PM

Re: Avatars?

That's the unedited version.

-[Blaze]- July 4th, 2004 12:18 AM

Re: Avatars?

Okay here is a 99 x 95 version. It will fit and it is in JPEG form, I'll attach it below. I'm going to walk you through this:

1. Click Edit Avatar
2. Scroll down to where it says "Upload an avatar from your computer."
3. Click on the bubble that says "Use Custom Avatar."
4. Click on Browse
5. Locate your Avatar. The one I just edited for you can be found below. You will have to save it over your unedited version.
6. Once you have located the Avatar (the 99 x 95) one, select it and click Open.
7. Then press Save Changes.

If that doesn't work, contact an Administrator.

Re: Avatars?

Godamnit, ever since I uploaded my original avatar, my computer has been trying to download a picture file thing and it's slow and annoying as hell. That and I can't see other peoples avatars, and my reply screen is really stretched out with all of the smilies missing. It's really weird and it's making me mad. I'm going to bed. Thx for the help blaze, I will try and upload the avatar tomorrow.
