I've made some simple sigs before using simple programs like paint, but this is the first sig I've made where I've used Gimp(actually Gimpshop, which is Gimp with a photoshop-like interface for those who don't know). It's still pretty simple but I'm wondering how you guys like it. I made it for the last signature of the week but I wanted to get some individual feedback on it. Any pointers or criticism is welcomed.

wayy better than my first sig.
good job.
BTW:i had gimpshop but uninstalled because Normal Gimp was better.
lol
gimpshop didnt have a minimize button!!!!
Slick- I know what you mean about the background that is probaly the toughest part is getting a background that looks good. I'm messing around with fractals right now but I couldn't get it looking good enough so I decided to just do a simple gradient which I figured looked good "enough" for now atleast. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a good fractal.
confusingkid- Does normal Gimp have anything extra that Gimpshop doesn't in terms of tools? I don't really need a minimize button so much, and I'm using Gimpshop so if I ever work with Photoshop there will already be some familiarity with the layout.

i think you meant to ask me lol.
Gimp and Gimpshop have virtulally no difference besides layout color,no minimize, and the placement of a few tabs/buttons. The gimp can do basically anything PS can do. For free. I just thought gimpshop was a downgrade after having gimp for a whie. But thats just my opinion.

Alright, thanks. Only reason I would use Photoshop is if I had to in school or some such thing. I'll look into using just normal Gimp.
if you like using gimpshop, then by all means, continue to use it, but for me, i just found it worse.
also a note, if you install normal gimp and decide to uninstall and go back to using gimpshop, you will have to reinstall gimpshop as well.

There's different style you can use making a background for you sig. Some user Filters, some Effects and some (like me) use a mix of brushes (grunge style)
Go on Deviantart.com and find some brushes for Gimp. Play with them.. try new things, new blending and layers style. If you like the result.. the start working more on grunge sig. If you don't like it..well you can try to play with images and filters.
Here's 2 of my work. First is image manipulation (mainly Filter) and second is grunge style..

Hope you see the difference.. Anyway that was my little tip of the day
